Every year our classroom sizes seem to grow and a class of 32 students or more is not uncommon. The problem is is that we are humans and we learn at different rates, some are able to excel at languages, some at math and some students need some help to grasp the basic concepts before they can really start understanding the subject and their learning takes off. I was one of those students who found
a subject, in my case math, difficult to grasp at the beginning. I was lucky enough to have a teacher that took the time to explain the basic concepts to me using different types of techniques. Once I grasp the concepts I found myself excelling at the subject and became an electronic design engineer. If it were not for the teacher I would of just put it down to not being good at maths, we are all individuals and the way each of us learn is different and this is why I have developed StudentGrinds.ie. Our learning platform allows students to learn at their own pace, we use a Flipped Classroom approach. Students can learn through interactive lessons on our site, watch interactive videos that ask the user questions about what they have learned. Students will also be able to play learning games that are proven to help them remember important aspects of the lesson. When the student has finished the learning aspect of the lesson, an experience tutor will deliver a live online class about the lesson to the students. Here a student can ask questions to reaffirm their understanding and after the live class students will be able to re-watch the live lesson again at their own pace.
