The class of 2002 had their 20 year reunion on December 27th. The evening began with a beautiful memorial lead by Fr Cryan, largely centred around the remembering of our friend Paul Ducie who passed away in the leaving cert year.
It was followed by fine speeches by vice principal Eoin Moriarty and past pupil Eoghan Doherty, detailing memories of our time in Summerhill and outlining life in the current school.
The attendees were then treated to a tour of the college with food and drinks reception. The past pupils were collectively taken aback by the quality of facilities the students now have at their disposal. Clearly a reflection of the determination and ambition of the leadership team at the school.
Past pupils then made their way to Sligo Cemetery for a laying of the wreath and moments’ silence. Imelda and Mick then hosted a get together in the blue Lagoon with food and music. A brilliant spread.
The organisers would like to thank the family of Eoghan Doherty for their contributions to the night, Stephen Dolan for photos, Fr Cryan and Summerhill college for their generous hosting.
Finally a huge thanks to Conor Kenny for leading the organisation of this fantastic evening with help from Stephen Keaney, John Harkin, John Bannigan, Fergus Horan and Ronan Currid.
Wishing all a very happy 2023.. 💙
