Bizzy B's

Bizzy B's We believe that early childhood is a time of great opportunity for learning and development and is a time of unprecedented growth.
(1)

It marks the beginning of the child’s lifelong learning journey. At Bizzy B’s the children are afforded the opportunity to holistically grow and develop within a warm, caring environment with adults that recognise, respect and build on their needs and interests. Our ethos is an “active learning” approach. Active learning means that children have direct hands on experiences with people, objects, events and ideas. Children’s interests are at the heart of our programme.

Frank, like all children, is full of mischief and fun he adds something totally unique to our school. Frank. like all children has specific needs and these needs have to be addressed in order for him to flourish and reach his full potential. Unfortunately the system in place for early years does not acknowledge his specific needs and the need for specialist intervention and support. Without this intervention and support Frank will not be able to reach his full potential. We have a huge problem with this as surely it is every child's right under the UN Convention of the rights of the child to receive appropriate education to meet their needs. We are not going to stand idly by and see a child being left behind. The decision to go public on this has not been taken lightly - unfortunately we have no option but to go this route in order for Frank to receive the level of care and education appropriate to his needs. Currently Frank's parents have to act as his voice but with the right level of support Frank will have his own voice in the future. Why would anyone deny him this opportunity??
Today we had our first fundraising event - A Spooktacular Halloween Cat Walk
It was both emotional and fun filled. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all of our parents, aunts, childminders and grandparents who came along and to our entertainment for the children 'manners for minors',(http://manners4minors.com/) a wonderful puppet show that teaches children about emotional literacy in a child focused and fun way.
We raised €800 and this will go into Frank's 'go fund me' account, details are below. Please like and share this account - Frank deserves this chance to be the best he can be but we need your support.

Frank is our beautiful 3½ year old boy. He is the light in the room & the joy brought to our lives. Three days after his 3rd birthday, Frank received the diagnosis of his autism. This did not & does not define him but it does bring about challenges for him. Frank faces these challenges happily an.....

Today we made potato and leek soup. The recipe was from Darina Allen and I'm not sure that we followed her instructions exactly - she states to cube the potatoes and slice the leeks thinly but ours were in large medium and small lumps - nevertheless our budding chefs did a fantastic job and the end result was slurpalicious!. Even our student Karl got stuck in.
This activity gives the opportunity to learn about vegetables and how they are good for us. Using the peelers and knives (children's knives that cut but not fingers!) develops hand: eye co-ordination and is a pre-writing skill (bet you didn't know that?). By making the soup children are much more likely to try it. A lovely example of learning by doing.
