Julie O'Connor, founder of Synergy Careers in 2015, has worked in education since 1994, specialising in career guidance and counselling since 1998 after qualifying from U.C.C.. Since then Julie has worked as a Human Resource Specialist in Dell Computers, as an Adult Guidance Counsellor in PAUL Partnership and as a Career Guidance Counsellor in St. Clements College, Limerick. and more recently Limerick Tutorial College. Now working full-time as a self-employed Career Guidance Consultant, providing Career Guidance Services via Synergy Careers Webinar Series, 1-1 Career Guidance Services, Career Guidance workshops for schools and IGC branches. We offer a Career Guidance Service for ALL Ages and ALL Budgets with membership plans to our webinar recordings and more from €0

Julie O'Connor is a chartered member of the Institute of Guidance Counsellors, representing the mid-west IGC branch as their National Representative on the IGC since 2020. She is listed on the professional register of private practitioners in Career Guidance in Ireland. Julie also has full registration on the British Psychological Society RQTU (Register of Qualifications in Test Use) in Occupational and Ability Testing: qualified to administer occupational and ability tests. Julie is a registered teacher with the Teaching council of Ireland, and has Garda Vetting certification. My vision is to enable clients to gain greater clarity, better self-awareness and feel confident and assured that they are making well informed critical decisions on their future. As a Career Guidance counsellor, I have the qualifications, experience, skill-set, knowledge and desire to make a difference. Webinar on Study Skills: guide for Students & Parents
The 1st webinar in this year’s Career Guidance Webinar Series, our 7th year, hosted by Synergy Careers, looks at Goal Setting, study techniques and exam techniques.
• We will give tips on setting smart goals, organising study schedules, planning for revision, while also highlighting some key resources to support your success.
• We will also look at key tips around good exam techniques, what to watch out for and the importance of practising exam questions.

The aim is to support both students and parents to engage with careers exploration in an informed manner and ensure they are equipped to make good career decisions.

If you are a student (or parent of one) who'd enjoy building a real startup this summer, an interesting global and online intiative provides our future entrepreneurs access to expert mentors and a chance to develop their entrepreneurial instinct with what seems like an impressive programme from -Founders-Lab starting June 10th. Financial aid options available.

The Young Founder’s Lab is a real-world start-up bootcamp founded and run by Harvard entrepreneurs. In this program, you will work towards building a revenue-generating start-up that addresses a real-world problem. You will also have the opportunity to be mentored by established entrepreneurs and professionals from Google, Microsoft, and X.

Are you a student considering a few areas but not sure which best suits you? Or maybe you are completely unsure?
Are you a 6th year student about to start your exams but still not confident about your CAO order of preference?
Are you a Parent of a 5th year who is unsure of what to do after the leaving certificate?

When I start with a client I always ask for them to reflect on how aware they are about their future plans on a scale of 1-10
1-3 = very unsure
4-6 = moderate idea, may have 2 or 3 areas of interest but not sure which to pick
7-10 = more definite of future career plan but not sure of all the options/pathways.
