Planning is under-way for our next sessions at CoderDojo Rosemont.

We plan to cover a mix of .html and AppInventor to build on skills young people have previously developed in SCRATCH. The sessions will be open to 10-17 year olds and completion of a beginners SCRATCH course at any CoderDojo is a prerequisite to getting the most of the sessions.

We'll post information here and on our webpages at http://coderdojorosemont.com/hotnews.html before the end of the month.

There must be more that twenty methods to "sort" lists with computer programs, and this week we learnt how to code one of the oldest algorithms.

It's been described since 1956 ... the Electronic Data Sorting "Bubble Sort".

Implemented here in SCRATCH by our young people on just week 4 of our dojo sessions at Rosemont.

Have you ever wanted to create your own animations or cartoons online?

Here is a simple example from just our third week of SCRATCH at CoderDojoRosemont where we learnt how to use "Parallax Scrolling". It's a technique where the background moves slower than objects in the foreground to simulate movement.

Its our second week of CoderDojo at Rosemont and we learnt about collisions, variables, how to broadcast messages between sprites and the background, and we wrote this maze game together.

A great launch today for our Dojo at Rosemont. We covered how to move sprites around the screen, how to detect when different keys are being pressed and we even made a simple music keyboard. Great participation from all the young people who came along - and thanks to TheFayeDunne, Harry, and everyone at Rosemont school for their help.

In just the first hour we had our first program!
