Mantua National School

Mantua National School This school was established in 1822 but was not registered with the Commissioners Of Education until the 6th of April 1840.

The state system of national education was established in 1831, so Mantua was one of few primary schools pre 1831 in the country. To claimthat it is one of the oldest established schools is sure to be contradicted, but it certainly has a continous history of 175 years and more behind it..

After 190 years of education Mantua National School is sadly closing its doors for the last time on June 28th, For past and present pupils of the school their will be a celebratory mass and function held on the school grounds on the 11th of August 2012 which promises to be a great weekend. Memories and achievements from throughout the years will be recognised on the day, and the banter will be had!! :) well keep ye uptated......
