We are so excited to welcome all our pupils back to school tomorrow! 🌟

A very special welcome to our new Junior Infants and to all the new pupils joining us in the other classes. We hope you have a wonderful first day and settle in quickly! 💛

Our school has had an incredible transformation over the summer and is almost unrecognisable! 🤩 A huge amount of work has gone into creating a fantastic, state-of-the-art school environment, and we are absolutely delighted with the results.

There are still a few finishing touches to be completed, but with a little time and patience, we will get there. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has worked so hard to make this happen.

We can’t wait to see all the smiling faces tomorrow and begin another exciting school year together! 🏫✨

📸Our Last Flashback Friday, we’ve included a few photos as we get our Summer Holidays today, a sincere thank you to all our past pupils who have generously donated so far. 📷

We would LOVE if past pupils, families and friends could take a look through the photos, tag people you recognise, share your memories and maybe even tell us what year the photo was taken! There are sure to be a few familiar faces and plenty of stories to be told. Please tag anyone you know! 🤗

Seeing the connection people still have to our little school has been so special over the past few weeks. The support, encouragement and generosity shown towards our school building project has honestly been incredible and we want to say a huge heartfelt thank you to everyone who has donated, shared posts, attended events or supported us in any way so far.

For many, Athleague N.S. holds such happy memories and it’s lovely to see past pupils rallying behind the school once again to help shape its future for the next generation of children.

As many know, we are currently in the middle of a major school development which will include:
🏫 A dedicated SEN Base Unit
🏫 Two SET rooms
🏫 A new mainstream classroom
🏫 Additional facilities
🏫 A much-needed car park to improve safety and accessibility

We are especially proud that Athleague N.S. has been sanctioned a special class for children with autism, opening in September 2026 — something that will make a huge difference for local families and ensure children can learn and thrive close to home in a supportive and inclusive environment 💙

While fantastic progress has been made, rising construction costs and unforeseen expenses have left us with a funding gap as we work towards the finish line.

As the academic year comes to a close, we bid a fond farewell to our 6th class students. It has been a privilege to watch you grow, learn and develop into thoughtful, capable young people during your time at our school.

We are incredibly proud of all that you have achieved, both in and outside the classroom. As you take the next step in your educational journey, we hope you carry with you the values, friendships and memories you’ve made here.

Congratulations to our Junior Infants, who were presented with certificates by Ms. Hickey to celebrate the successful completion of their first year at Athleague National School.

Today we were honoured to celebrate Fr. Eugene McLoughlin on the 60th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood.

On behalf of the pupils, staff and Board of Management of Athleague National School, Principal Avril and Chairperson Anthony were delighted to present Fr. Eugene with a token of appreciation in recognition of his lifelong dedication, service and support.

Fr. Eugene has always held a special place in the heart of our school community. During his years as Parish Priest and Chairperson of the Board of Management, he was a constant source of encouragement, guidance and wisdom. No matter what challenges arose, we knew we could rely on his support, his thoughtful advice and his genuine care for the school.

Our pupils always looked forward to his visits, and he had a wonderful way of making every child feel valued and important. Staff members have many fond memories of his kindness, friendship and the time he always took to stop, listen and chat. Even today, we are grateful that he continues to return each year to celebrate our graduation service and remain such an important part of school life.

Thank you, Fr. Eugene, for your friendship, generosity and unwavering commitment to Athleague National School over so many years. Congratulations on this remarkable milestone, and we wish you continued good health, happiness and blessings in the years ahead. 💙🙏🎉

Goodbye, good luck and farewell to our 6th class pupils Saoirse, Holly, Kate, Áine, Laura, Rian, Eoin, Emlyn, Colin, Ray and Ruadhán who graduated from primary school today with a lovely Graduation Ceremony in our school yard under the glorious sunshine🎉🏫🎈
We hope you look back on all your years in Athleague NS with fond memories. 😊 Wishing you all the best in secondary school and beyond. What a lovely group of children who will be missed greatly!
The children were presented with memorable tokens for their time in our school. So many fond memories to cherish. The day was filled with laughs and memories! It was so lovely to welcome their families to join us in the celebration! Our Student Council members were treated to a delicious treat by Ms. Hickey today after a fantastic year of service. We discussed our productive year and all our achievements. Ms. Hickey presented each member with a certificate of achievement and a voucher for their commitment throughout the year.
