💖Love is in the air ❤️

Happy Valentines Day! We had a busy week The Wendy House learning and exploring heart shapes, reading about love and making cards for people we love.
One little gentleman brought a rose to school for all the girls in his class 🌹 -
I think I even saw a tear in one Mammys eye 👁️ # sosweet

To spread the love, the children were very excited to take a little heart Teddy home with them and some love heart sweets ❤️ 🍬

❤️Aistear Well-Being theme: Children will make strong attachments and develop warm supportive relationships with family, peers and adults.

A poem for Niki

😇 We were blessed to have you at The Wendy House,
Especially the day you caught the mouse.

You made us laugh with a twinkle in your eye,
You gave great hugs when we’d cry.

Bringing love and laughter wherever you went,
You were particularly good at making a tent.

Reading us stories and writing us poems,
You sang us songs and waved us home.

Beautiful Niki, we hope you are at rest,
You honestly were one of the best.

🏫 What a fabulous start to the new school year @ TThe Wendy House!

We are truly blessed 😇 with the lovely group of children we have ❤️.

Everyone settled in to their new routine so amazingly well and enjoyed playing outside, making playdoh, sorting colours, learning about circles, singing songs, dancing and reading stories.

Very grateful for the first few weeks back together.

🎄 It’s beginning……..Todays activity.

▶️Play dough was made with the children during free play. Cinnamon added for extra sensory input. Individual tray set up for each child with no instructions given so their creativity could run wild.

We thought you’d like a glimpse at some of our Autumn 🍂 Art.
Lots of fun but also lots of learning about concepts such as 🧊 freeze/melt - 🌳 tree lifecycle- and skeleton and bones 🦴 inside our bodies.
These activities promote learning and develop fine motor skills.
We have had a fabulous few weeks together. Well done everyone.

🐄🐑We have already observed a farming interest from the children. They were busy this week sharing their farming knowledge with us.
To extend this interest we have set up ‘tuff trays’ for them for tomorrow morning to further develop their knowledge through play.

Well we all got through the first few days here The Wendy House! Plenty of singing and playing outside, wellies and bug 🐜 catching, stories and plenty of smiles 😊

😴 One more sleep 💤

❤️So excited to show you The Wendy House Classroom set up - I love a new start.

😊 The indoor set up encourages discussion around emotions which is SO important for everyone of us, but especially so for our small human friends. Lots of soft areas and fabrics to get comfortable when they want to.
There are many areas to promote role play- which is so important to facilitate learning across many domains, through role play children can apply knowledge and problem solve through experiential learning.

📖 You will see lots of print in the environment, on mugs (play equipment) walls, boxes etc, this ensures the children are exposed to print early and will help them become familiar and take an interest when they are ready.

🍃 At The Wendy House we focus hugely on Outdoor play as it’s many benefits are heavily researched. Lots of areas to climb, swing, jump, dig, chill and run. Our fabulous outdoor classroom is ready to go and our mud kitchen is on standby for mud pie making.

Can’t wait to See you all tomorrow and start a new year together,

🎓The Wendy House Class of 2023!

Our Educators had the absolute pleasure of having this beautiful group of children in their classroom for the past two years.
📝What a fabulous learning journey we all had?
Thank you to each little child for the laughter, hugs, smiles, games and love ❤️.
A Special thank you to each and every parent for trusting us to care and educate your most prized possession, the magnitude of this is not lost on us. Thank you for two great years 🥰

Wildlife at The Wendy House

🐸 We had a fabulous time learning about the FROG life cycle (a 3 month classroom project).
-we brought in frogspawn into the classroom and learned together about the frog lifecycle (with the help of Anna and her mum).
-we talked about salt water and fresh water
-learned about spring and how frogspawn arrives in the springtime
-shape sorting- we had frogs with different shapes that we matched onto matching lily pads with the same shapes (while pretending to be frogs) 😂
-we observed and documented the growth of our frogs from frog spawn to tadpoles - they are almost at the froglet stage.
-We explored paintings of Claude Monet’s water lilies and painted our own water lilies.

Aistear: Exploring and thinking theme. Learning goal 4, AIM 1. Children will learn about the natural environment and their own responsibilities as carers.
