Academy Dog Training & Boarding Kennels

🏁 From training in Rathmullan to 2nd place in Scotland!.. What a great weekend for three of our Academy Flyball dogs. Zoey, Kobi and Dobbie headed to Scotland for their very first Flyball competition.
There were a few first-race wobbles but with a few changes everything began to come together and our newly formed team finished 2nd in their division! 🥈

Even better than the rosette was seeing how the training we've done at home stood up when we suddenly added travel, a new environment, new dogs, and the excitement of real racing. We've come home incredibly proud of all three dogs — and with a very useful list of things to work on next!

We'll be sharing more of their individual stories over on the Donegal Flyball page. 🐕💨🏁

❤️ What a way to start last week...

Before all the excitement of heading to Scotland for Flyball, Forest and I, along with a few more dogs from our Scentwork Classes spent two days at a Scent Detection workshop organized by the amazing Snifferpaws NI.

Day one took us to Belfast Rugby Club, followed by a completely different search environment for day two at the Ulster Aviation Museum. ✈️

Two days of learning, searching, watching dogs work and plenty for me to come home and think about.
Forest thoroughly enjoyed having his nose put to work — and I came home with lots of ideas to take into our own Scent Detection training at the Academy in Rathmullan.

I'll share a little more from the two days over the next week. 🐾

🐾 Some of our Scent Teams were busy this weekend putting their training to the test at a Level 2 Scent Trial. A huge congratulations to Team Tillie who followed up a fantastic weekend at Dogitude with an amazing 🥇 1st Place in the Level 2 Scent Trial and earned enough points for her Excellence Award 🎉🏆 Team Ellie also had a brilliant day, qualifying in Level 2 with an impressive 90 points 👏🌟 We're incredibly proud of both teams and all the hard work they've put in to get here 💚🐾
Well done to you both! 🎊

🐶 We also entered the Irish Agility Open Championship held at Dogitude this weekend and had so much fun running the courses 🌟 We had three dogs competing this year 💚 For Honey it was her first proper show and she handled it all like a pro even gaining enough points through the league to earn her place in the Speedstakes Final 👏 (great achievement for a beginner ❤️ 🐾). Over the two days Tillie picked up a 3rd place and a 2nd place, and also enough points to get into the final where she picked up an amazing 2nd place 🏅. Our Zoey was also busy picking up a 3rd place, 3 x 2nd places and 2 x 1st places which included clear rounds (and now moves Zoey up to Grade 5 💪) Zoey also went onto to pick up 3rd place in the finals 🏅. Massive thank you to the organizers and the fantastic facilities, the judges and their great courses and to Leela for all the great pics 👏 As always looking forward to next year already 💚🐾

🐶 What a weekend at Dogitude 2026 🐶 … Our Flyball teams were back in action at the weekend showing off their Flyball skills to the crowds at Causey Farm. Two days of racing, excitement and the dogs doing what they love 🐕 This doesn’t happen by accident, behind every run is hours of training, creating focus around distractions and teaching the dogs how to channel all that excitement into working as part of a team 🐾That’s the bit we love the most, watching the dogs and their people develop together along the way ❤️ Thank you to everyone who came over to support us and cheer the teams on 🙌 And thank you to the Dogitude organisers for inviting us along and giving us the opportunity to showcase the sport 💚🐕 and thank you to Caoimhe for all the great pics of the dogs and the team 📸🔥…Hopefully we inspired a few more people to give Flyball a go ❤️ 🐾
