On Wednesday, The Beehive celebrated Traveller Ethnicity Day, honoring the community's culture, history, and traditions with our children and families.

This event aimed to educate, foster respect, promote inclusion and embrace diversity.
Aistear highlights through inclusive practice, we as Early Years Teachers are supporting children's well- being and sense of belonging (NCCA). When early years environments reflect the real lives and backgrounds of the families they serve, children feel valued, respected and connected.

When you represent children's culture and identity you are creating an environment where children feel a sense of pride, feel welcomed and where opportunities for further learning and development are actively encouraged. 🐝💙💛

Last week, our little Senior preschool bumblebees headed off on another exciting preschool adventure. They were invited to the Teddy Bears Picnic at St Anne's Primary School, where they listened to one of their favourite stories 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' and coloured some teddy bears. Some of our children were also delighted to meet their siblings on the day. To finish it all off the children enjoyed a delicious cupcake 🧁A lovely morning had by all. 🐝💙

Last Friday our Senior Preschool bumblebees went for a wonderful visit to Church Street Primary school in Rathkeale. They had such a great time with all the wonderful resources such as; puppets, books, sand and much more. The children even had their very own baking class, where they made delicious rice krispie buns with the teachers and other students. Thanks to all the teachers and pupils of Church Street National for such a lovely time. 🩵🐝

PART 1 OF OUR MORNING WITH 🎅..... What can we say about this morning only that it was magical! Santa visiting the service is one of the HO HO HO'S of the year and again this year he did not disappoint. The children were just so excited, it really is just so special to be able to share these moments with them! A special thanks you to the 'Big Man' himself who took time during this very busy period to leave the North Pole and visit us all the way in Rathkeale and also a big shout out and thank you to Rathkeale Fire Brigade who took time out their most important job to bring Santa to see us! It really is appreciated 🩵 🐝 🎅

✨Celebrating Identity, Culture & Belonging in Early Childhood✨

We visited The Beehive today and spotted this wonderful decoration representing a Traveller family’s caravan/home proudly on display in Reception. It was inspiring to see how the service is actively representing the cultures, traditions, and family identities of the children in their care.

Aistear highlights that Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion are central to supporting children’s well-being and sense of belonging. When early years environments reflect the real lives and backgrounds of the families they serve, children feel valued, respected and connected. When children see their families, cultures and traditions reflected around them, they develop pride in who they are and curiosity for the experiences of others.

By including meaningful items like this, the service is:
🌈 Promoting representation and pride
🤝 Welcoming all families and communities
💬 Encouraging children to learn about and celebrate differences

Moments like this remind us of the power of culturally responsive practice. Representation isn’t just decoration — it’s belonging. 💛
