CASHELSHANAGHAN NATIONAL SCHOOL

CASHELSHANAGHAN NATIONAL SCHOOL We are a two teacher school situated between Letterkenny and Ramelton. We are very proud of the children of Cashelshanaghan N. S. Maya Angelou

Our aim is to develop in our children a love of learning which we hope will last through their lives. A Little Bit of Inspiration

Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand,

while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand. Albert Einstein

💦 6th Class Water Fight 2026! 💦
Our leavers finished their time in Cashelshanaghan N.S. in the best way possible — with the legendary annual water fight! (Thankfully our water butt was full).

There was laughter, squealing, soaking shoes, and absolutely no one escaped without getting drenched. The joy on their faces said it all — a perfect mix of fun, freedom, and celebration as they wrapped up their final days with us.

We’ll miss this brilliant bunch, but what a way to finish — together, laughing, and making memories they’ll talk about for years.
Here’s to our fantastic 6th Class… may they always keep that spark, that fun, and that sense of adventure. 💛✨

🎓 6th Class Graduation 2026 🎓
Yesterday, we celebrated a wonderful group of young people as they graduated from Cashelshanaghan N.S. What a joy it has been to watch them grow, learn, laugh, and shine throughout their years with us.
They have shown kindness, resilience, friendship, and a great sense of fun — and our school is all the better for having had them in it. As they head off to secondary school, we are so proud of each and every one of them.

We will miss them all, but we know they are ready for the exciting adventures ahead.

Sarah, Isla-Mae, Emma, Harry, Daniel & Ashton - Go forward with confidence, keep being yourselves, and remember: you will always be part of our Cashelshanaghan family. 💛✨

🌞 Sports Day 2026 at Cashelshanaghan N.S.! 🌞
After weeks of dodging showers and watching the weather like hawks, Monday finally gave us our first dry day — and we grabbed it with both hands! The children were full of energy, excitement and brilliant team spirit, ready to make the most of every minute.
From sprints and relays to fun races and cheering squads, the smiles never left their faces. The laughter, the effort, the encouragement and the pure joy made it a day to remember for everyone.
And just when we thought the day couldn’t get any better… 🍦 the ice cream van rolled in! Perfect timing, perfect treats, and very happy children.
A huge well done to all our fantastic pupils who gave it their all, supported their friends and showed what true sportsmanship looks like. And thank you to our staff and families for helping make the day run so smoothly.
🏅 A brilliant Sports Day, a brilliant school community, and memories we’ll treasure.
Roll on next year!

🌿 Peace Plus Aspire – Friendship, Heritage & Caring for Our Community 🌿

What a wonderful day our pupils shared with the children from Faugher National School as part of the Peace Plus Aspire programme!

Our senior classes enjoyed a fascinating Heritage Walk around the beautiful village of Ramelton, learning about its rich history and local landmarks. They also visited Ramelton Community Hospital, where they sang songs for the residents — bringing smiles, music, and warmth to everyone there. 💛

Meanwhile, our junior pupils took part in a Beach Clean‑up in Rathmullan, working together to care for our coastline and learning how small actions can make a big difference for our environment.

It was a day filled with friendship, teamwork, and community spirit — everything the Peace Plus Aspire programme stands for. 🌈

A heartfelt thank‑you to everyone who helped make it such a special and memorable experience!

The Junior Room has been hopping with activity since we returned after Easter — quite literally, because we’ve been learning all about the Life Cycle of the Frog! From tiny eggs to wriggly tadpoles to big jumping frogs, the children have become real little nature experts. We also planted our sunflower seeds, and the children got very excited to see whose had grown the tallest. But the biggest surprise of all was our very funny visitor — a clown 🎪 from the circus in Letterkenny! The children had a brilliant morning chatting, laughing, and asking the clown all sorts of questions. Afterwards, they drew their own silly clown pictures as part of learning about the Fear Grinn in Irish.
To top it all off, Manus is back again, teaching all the children some fantastic Gaelic football techniques 🏐. He will be visiting us every Thursday for the next six weeks, so there will be plenty more fun and skills to come. Keep watching our page for more updates!

🌟 Our School Mosaic Is Finally Complete! 🌟
We are absolutely delighted to share that our school mosaic is now finished and proudly displayed at the front door of the school. This beautiful project was only possible thanks to Bernie from Art Farm, who so kindly guided us, showed us what to do, and helped the children bring their ideas to life.
A huge thank‑you as well to Colin Mcgarvey and his son (Former student of the school) Dylan McGarvey, who generously gave their time to put the mosaic up for us — we are so grateful for their help.
We hope all our parents and visitors enjoy seeing the new mosaic, and we’re sure it will brighten up our entrance for many years to come. It’s a lovely splash of colour that truly reflects the spirit of our school.

🚴‍♂️ Cycle Right Champions! 🚴‍♀️
Over the past four weeks, the children in our Senior Room have been taking part in the Cycle Right Programme with Portlean N.S, and what a fantastic experience it has been.
Throughout the programme, pupils learned how to cycle safely and confidently — from checking their bikes and wearing the correct safety equipment to understanding and following the rules of the road. They practised lots of important cycling skills, building awareness of the traffic around them, balance and independence along the way.
Step by step they have grown in confidence and became safer, more skilled cyclists. This was a fantastic experience for everyone involved. 🚴‍♂️
A huge well done to all the boys and girls for their enthusiasm and effort. They should be very proud of themselves. 🌟

🍀 St. Patrick’s Day spirit at its best!
Over the past few weeks our pupils and the wonderful children of Faugher National School came together through the Peace Plus Aspire programme for days filled with creativity, music and movement.

From colourful St. Patrick’s Day art and crafts to learning a lively Céilí dance side by side, the room was full of teamwork, laughter and new friendships. These shared moments are what Peace Plus Aspire is all about — connecting schools, building confidence and celebrating our culture together.

A huge thank you to everyone involved. We’re already looking forward to the next meet‑up!
