🍬 Sweet Taxation in History! 🇺🇸

Ms O’Donovan’s 2nd Year History class recently took part in a sweet taxation activity to explore the causes of the American Revolution and develop historical empathy.

Students experienced the frustration of the American colonists by handing over their precious sweets if they had consumed or used products such as sugar, tea, paper and glass during the previous week. It was a fun way to understand why the colonists were unhappy with the taxes imposed by the British!

A special thank you to Finn O’Connor, who played King George III, and our tax collectors, Aoife Hurley and Rían O’Connor, for bringing the activity to life.

Thankfully, our students got to enjoy their sweets in the end — tax free! 🍬

🌟 Celebrating our Junior Cycle Distinctions! 🌟

We're so proud of Daniel, Bobby, Ronan, Lilia and Ellie pictured with their Year Head Ms Creedon, who achieved Distinctions in their Junior Cycle results.
Unpictured students who achieved Distinctionsin their Junior cycle results include, Alyssa O Neill Ram, Louis Flynn, Mollie O Donovan, Zoe Mc Namee and Lexie O Riordan.

Mr O’Connor is pictured with Lillia and Daniel who achieved Distinctions in Engineering with their projects, you can see one project in action too!

🏀 Basketball Action! 🏀

Our Junior and Senior Boys took on Bandon Grammar last Tuesday in two great games of basketball! 👏

A fantastic win for our Junior Boys, while our Senior Boys battled hard in a competitive game but unfortunately came away with a loss.

Well done to all our players for their effort, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout both games! 🏀👏

A huge congratulations to all our Junior Cycle students on receiving their results today! 📚✨

We are incredibly proud of the hard work, dedication and commitment you have shown throughout the past three years. Today is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate everything you have achieved and the progress you have made.

⚽ A fantastic soccer match last Thursday St Peter’s vs.
Carrignafoy ⚽️
A brilliant 8–0 victory for the team! 👏 Our top scorer was Harry Tett, who put away an impressive three goals . Jake Ahern, Cameron McCabe, Tommy Coakley, Messia Brobbey and Ben Devine all got on the scoresheet with a goal each.

A fantastic team performance, with great teamwork throughout the match. 💪⚽

A meaningful start for our 1st Years ❤️

Our new students gathered for a special liturgy with Ms Siobhán Murphy, Chaplain, marking the beginning of their journey in St Peter’s.

They created footprints reflecting the qualities they hope to bring to our school and were reminded of the care and support surrounding them.

Mr Bolster introduced Classes Manchán and Maeve to the Time Capsule, where they’ll place letters to their future selves and a current photo into a box that will be set into the ground, ready to be opened again in 6th Year. The ceremony finished with well‑earned hot chocolate from Ms Quane and Ms Hutton.

🥋🌍 Best of luck to Kirsten Shaw!

We are delighted to wish Kirsten, one of our St. Peter’s students, the very best of luck as she represents her club, Cork ITA, and the Irish Taekwon-Do Association at the ITF Taekwon-Do World Cup in Benidorm, Spain 🇪🇸.

Over 2,600 athletes from 57 countries will come together for this fantastic event, making it a brilliant opportunity for Kirsten to compete on the world stage.

Kirsten is pictured with her instructor, Master Buckley, who will also be travelling to Spain.

Everyone in St. Peter’s is behind you, Kirsten — best of luck! 🇮🇪🥋👏

✨️What a fantastic evening at our Open Night! ✨

A huge thank you to our wonderful student tour guides and to all the students who helped out in classrooms and around the school. A special mention to our fantastic choir, and to Abbie and Charlie for their thoughtful and wonderful speeches. 🎶👏

Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make it such a memorable evening, and of course, a huge thank you to all our staff for their hard work and effort in making the evening such a success.

🥍 Lacrosse Workshop!

Some of our TYs took part in an introduction to Lacrosse workshop yesterday hosted by Cork Lacrosse Cork Lacrosse and Cork Sports Partnership. Joining students from three other schools, our TYs had the opportunity to learn the basic rules, skills and techniques of lacrosse in a fun and active environment.

Through a range of practical activities and mini-games, students developed their passing, catching, shooting and teamwork skills.

A huge thank you to Tony Devine for organising a fantastic event, and to coaches Kathleen Finnegan, Maddy Buss and Kate Loughney for a great day.

🏆 Congratulations to Molly Geary, who was awarded Best Female Player on the day!
