A collection of memories from the National Lipoedema Conference 2026, held at the Cork International Hotel on 29 August 2026.
An excellent day bringing together patients, clinicians, researchers, surgeons, therapists, patient organisations and industry professionals from Ireland and internationally, all contributing different perspectives to the understanding and management of lipoedema.
The programme covered everything from diagnosis, genetics and emerging research to nutrition, psychological wellbeing, conservative management, surgery, rehabilitation and long-term patient care.
It was also a privilege to represent MLD Ireland, alongside Antoinette O’Connor, Chairperson, and Siobhan Casey, Director of Communication, and to contribute to the programme with our presentation on professional standards, symptom management and post-surgical care, including my own discussion on the role of Manual Lymphatic Drainage in lipoedema care.
More than anything, these photographs are a reminder of the value of bringing patients and professionals together. Different disciplines, experiences and countries, but a common objective: improving knowledge, raising professional standards and ultimately providing better care and support for people living with lipoedema.
A fantastic conference, many interesting conversations, new connections and plenty of learning.
One for the memories. 💜📸
