We were all delighted to hear that we had been selected as an exemplary school for all our work recycling with our Return Bottles. It is a great reward for all the effort everyone has made to drop their bottles to school. We have made lots of money for the school and bought lots of resources for our sensory space. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this.

We have had a great few days of nature in our school. Last Friday Niamh found a baby bat on the ground outside. She phoned Bat Rescue and the called out to collect the baby and put it in an incubator where it will be fed until it is big enough to be released. Our baby swallows hatched out of their nests and everyone loves looking at them being fed when they come out the door. Today Ms. Costello rescueda and released two birds that flew into the hall. How lucky are we to have so much nature so close to us.

On Friday, after many weeks of exciting matches, our hurling league came to an exciting climax. We all watched four excellent matches with lots of skill on show form the pupil from 1st to 6th. We had cup and shield winners and runners up in the Junior and Senior leagues. Everyone was awarded a medal for their fantastic enthusiasm and effort. A huge thanks goes to Seán, Shane and Fergal who have been coming every week to train all the classes. It was fantastic to see the improvement in everyone. Keep up the practice over the summer. We are all looking forward to next year's league already. Burgess GAA Burgess - Duharra Camogie Club

What a fantastic day we had on Saturday in Burgess NS celebrating Ms Costello's memorial walk. A huge crowd gathered to celebrate with Ms. Costello and remember her six extra special students. It was brilliant to see so many present and past pupils come together in what turned out to be a really special community day. Thanks to everyone for coming, providing refreshments and donating to the charities. We are all over the moon with the success of the day.

We are all set for Ms. Costello's memorial walk. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Irish Road Victims Association (IRVA)
‘Together, we work to provide support, raise awareness, and advocate for meaningful change’
IRVA is the national charity for road crash victims in Ireland. They provide free information and support to all those impacted, nationwide.

As a non-governmental organisation, IRVA offers compassionate, practical support to individuals who have been bereaved or injured as a result of road traffic collisions and work to ensure their experiences are heard and respected.
Their mission is not only to help victims and families through the aftermath of tragedy but also to promote road safety and reduce the risk of further loss on our roads.
Through advocacy, awareness, and engagement with policymakers and key stakeholders, IRVA promotes safer roads throughout Ireland while helping to shape road safety policy and practice so that lessons from tragedy lead to meaningful change.

They provide free bereavement counselling or grief coaching as well as legal guidance to help families and those seriously injured to navigate the complex processes that follow a serious incident. Their monthly online support groups, led by a qualified facilitator, offer a safe and understanding space for connection and healing.

IRVA’S work centers on six key focus areas driving real impact.
• Prevent Road Deaths and Serious Injuries
• Improve Collision Investigations
• Strengthen Victim Support Services
• Promote Transparency in Justice
• Ensure Timely and Accurate Information
• Collaborate for Lasting Change
Every year in Ireland, countless lives are lost or forever changed by road traffic collisions. Behind each statistic is a grieving family, a survivor facing lifelong challenges, and a community left devastated. IRVA, offer free emotional and practical support, campaign for safer roads, and advocate for justice on behalf of victims and their families.
But they cannot do this alone. Donations from the public enables IRVA to continue this vital work. Thank you for your Donations
