Perpetuity Research, led by Professor Martin Gill CSyP has been commissioned by International Foundation for Protection Officers (IFPO) to undertake a ground-breaking study to explore the roles, responsibilities and training of frontline security officers.
We are looking for all frontline security officers in Ireland to take part in an online survey where they will be asked questions about the tasks they undertake, the skills required and the training they have received.

The survey will take no longer than 15-minutes and will consist of mostly multiple-choice questions.

The survey is anonymous, which means that no one will know how people have answered, and no names of individuals or organisations will be included in the findings.

Please take part and /or encourage colleagues to complete the survey. The report will help shape the industry for the next decade.

The Certificate in Static and Retail Security aims to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to work under supervision as a security officer performing practical security duties and procedures and responding to security situations in a variety of settings including static and the retail industry.

Successful completion of this programme leads to three certificates:

The Diploma in Asset Risk Management is designed to build on the existing experiences and activity of those engaged in the area of loss prevention and crime prevention as well as creating a pathway for those wishing to enter into or progress within the sector.

This 12-week vocational qualification is designed to enable learners acquire a range of skills and competencies in the fields of loss prevention, security risk assessment and security auditing, leading to undertaking effective risk assessments and giving advice in a broad range of environments.

It is with deep sadness that today, Friday 8th January, we lay to rest our colleague Liam O'Dubin.

Liam was an active member of the Institute for 30 years in a number of senior roles, including board member and governor.

He will be remembered fondly by those who worked with him over the years.

May he rest in peace.

The Certificate in Terrorism Awareness and Prevention is an excellent introductory course for those wanting to broaden their knowledge in this area.

This short online course has a duration of 2 weeks with a guideline of up to 25 hours study needed for completion. Just 1-2 hours of study per day is the only commitment needed which makes this course ideal for those working full time or anyone looking to up-skill during time off work.

As we close for the Christmas break, the Security Institute would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support during the year.
