Another little foal dance moment from our open day. It’s never to early to get a bond, yields and understanding! It’s extremely rewarding and fun to play with a foal. A couple or few minutes here and there will usually do. The instincts are very strong and on the surface with foals, so it’s very important to play with there nature and not to “train” on them, but still have a clear plan what and why and when/in what order we do things. The Parelli program give us a great blueprint for the development of our selfs and our horses. Just a few thoughts, David

Gaining suspension through her laterals in trot(early days and yes she is in 4 track on purpose) it’s really helping her get more airtime in her canter too

“The better your horse goes sideward or backwards the better they do everything else” Pat Parelli. Here Reign is just learning how to coordinate her body in a counter shoulder movement. She was really struggling with canter and wanted to canter on the forehand, flat and fast as she is built to the shoulders. She is in 4 track(4 different hoof prints on purpose) so she can get confidence in her body and use her hind legs(which she would prefer not to) There was no point cantering her around and around making her tired in canter and hoping she figured it out. Instead we worked on getting some suspension with laterals and it has really translated to the canter. She has figured out how to shorten her frame herself and take more weight to the quarters.
