For the Beep Beep Day, the children practiced vital Road Safety Authority (RSA) road skills through a real-world walk, practical crossing habits and a special visit from An Garda Síochána.

What the children did and learn:
-walking safely: practiced staying close to adults and holding hands while walking near active roads
-crossing the road: practiced stopping, looking both ways, listening for traffic, and waiting for the green man at the pedestrian crossing
-Garda visit: welcomed local Gardaí who chatted with the children, reinforced why road safety matters, and helped make learning fun and memorable.

We have been very busy the last few weeks in our playgroup. Here are some photos to showcase what we were up to.
We have been learning about dinosaurs. We froze smaller dinosaurs and used our big muscles to break them out of the ice. We also painted them and gave them a wash!

It's an apple season and we fancied something delicious last week. An apple crumble was a big hit!

We overheard children talking about McDonald's and what they like to eat there. "Why don't we make milkshakes in playschool" Kelly suggested. We sat down and made a list of ingredients and the following day we got busy chopping and mixing. We even made apple juice;)

We made a carrot/veg soup today.
The children were very busy peeling and slicing different vegetables.
At one stage the table was empty because everyone went to get a tissue for their eyes. Must have been a strong onion;) 🧅
If the veg fell on the floor, Maggie asked the child to just wash it in the sink before adding to the pot. At the end of it we found out that children took it seriously and washed the veg with soap;) it still tasted delicious at lunch time!

We put on our high vis jackets and went for a nature walk in Clonkill. We had a race running up the hill (we were fairly out of breath) and played tag on Astro. Afterwards, we came back for more fun in the playschool.

This was a very busy morning!

The children were working really hard peeling oranges and making delicious juice.
We also made our own pizza!!! We used dried yeast and watched the dough grow and then made margherita pizzas.
Unfortunately there are no photos of the end result as we ate all 4 pizzas;)

The children love messy play and painting so we combined them both. On Monday we explored print painting. Today, we painted using paint blocks and we loved listening to the bubble wrap popping.
