For most people, having a second language (or even third or fourth!) provides practical advantages. Usually, it opens doors to career opportunities and building a wider professional network. But there are other advantages to be enjoyed too.

If language is primarily communication (which it is), then it also opens doors to more information, culture, experiences, stories and view points.

Nothing is achieved by playing it safe. But a common mistake made by everywhere is to demand perfection from themselves.

Mistakes can actually be a great educator in their own right. As long as you can recognise the mistake, and adjust correctly. But the idea that there is no room for mistakes is a fiction that causes more damage than good.

So, try and fail because it is all part of the process.
