Two of our TY classes traded their textbooks for an intensive, hands-on First Aid workshop in Halla San Lughaidh today. Facilitated by expert trainer Paul Oliphant, the immersive session focused on practical emergency response, equipping students with the confidence and skills needed to take action when every second counts.

The core of the training centered on practical CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) operation. Paul guided students through proper chest compression depth and rhythm, walking them through the AED’s visual and voice prompts. By gaining direct experience with defibrillators, students overcame the natural hesitation that often prevents bystanders from acting during a cardiac emergency.

The session also tackled acute choking hazards. Students learned to identify respiratory distress, distinguish between partial and complete blockages, and properly execute back blows and abdominal thrusts. By connecting classroom learning with real-world responsibility, this workshop provided our TY students with essential life-saving tools, ensuring they are ready to step up and make a life-saving difference in our community.

What a fantastic achievement! 💙💛

We are incredibly proud of the 26 students from St Louis Monaghan, each who played a significant part in helping Scotstown’s U14s become Division 1 Champions on Monday evening in Cloghan! 🏆👏

What an incredible accomplishment for these young girls, and a wonderful example of what can be achieved through teamwork, commitment, dedication and a love of sport.

At St Louis, we are so proud to see our students embracing sport, supporting one another and showing that girls belong on every pitch, in every team and at every level of competition. ⚽️🏐🏀

We are delighted to announce the election of our new Head Girls, Isabella Treanor Fortiz and Tess Treanor 🔵🟡

Both Isabella and Tess presented themselves excellently throughout the interview process, demonstrating confidence, enthusiasm and a strong commitment to representing their fellow students. They are now ready to begin their journey as Head Girls, leading the Student Council, representing the student body and working closely with staff to ensure that the voices and ideas of students are heard.

We look forward to seeing all that Isabella and Tess will achieve in their new roles and wish them every success as they take on this exciting responsibility.

A special thank you to Ms. McDonald for her continued guidance, encouragement and support of Coiste and for helping to empower our students to take on leadership roles within the school community.

Our Transition Year students traded their textbooks for espresso beans, during an awesome hands-on barista workshop with the legendary Master Barista, Mr McAnespie. From dialing in the perfect grind, to attempting some seriously ambitious latte art, our TYs got an insider’s look into the coffee world, from a true master of the craft. The whole school smelled absolutely amazing, and judging by those foam-shaping skills, we definitely have a few future café owners in our midst. Huge thanks to Mr McAnespie for sharing his expertise and keeping our TY energy buzzing! ☕✨

Exciting Developments for the St. Louis Campus

Our Transition Year students recently had the pleasure of welcoming Drew Hurley, Senior Executive Planner, who delivered an engaging presentation on the exciting plans for the regeneration of the historic St. Louis Chapel and campus. Students learned about the history of the site, its importance to the local community, and the vision for its future. Following the presentation, the group visited the chapel, giving them a chance to see the building up close and gain a greater appreciation of its heritage and potential. The visit sparked plenty of interest and discussion, and we hope to build on this experience by developing a programme that allows students to follow the progress of the regeneration project and explore how they might contribute ideas along the way. It was a fantastic opportunity for learning, and students came away with a deeper understanding of heritage, planning, sustainability and community development, as well as a real appreciation for the exciting future of this special place.
