Huge congratulations to Darragh O’Sullivan, who has been named St. Joseph’s Overall Student of the Year for 2025/2026! 👏👏

This prestigious award is voted on by both students and staff, highlighting the extraordinary contribution Darragh has made to our school community throughout his 6 years here.

Darragh embodies everything it means to be a St. Joseph’s student:

📚 Academic Excellence: He excelled in his studies, driven by a fantastic work ethic and a constant commitment to self-improvement.

🏐 Sporting Pride: He was incredibly committed to our extra-curricular program, particularly on the Gaelic Football pitch, where he represented the school with immense pride and passion.

🗣️ Leadership & Voice: As a dedicated member of the Student Council, Darragh worked tirelessly to improve school life for his peers.

Above all, Darragh has been a fantastic presence in our corridors. Through his respectful, kind, and positive interactions with both students and staff, he has been a true role model for the other boys in our school.

We want to extend a massive congratulations to Claudina Leal Casares, who recently completed her academic year with us at St. Joseph’s Secondary School, Spanish Point, as part of an international placement programme from Mexico.

Claudina fully immersed herself in our Transition Year (TY) programme, engaging with every activity in an incredibly positive manner. Not only did she make wonderful, lifelong friends during her time in Clare, but she was also a fantastic, positive influence on our entire school community.

To crown an amazing year, Claudina was awarded the prestigious CEIST School Award for beautifully embodying and representing the core values of CEIST during her stay. 🏆✨

Claudina, we are so incredibly proud of you. Thank you for bringing your energy, kindness, and hard work to Spanish Point. We wish you the absolute best of luck as you return home to continue your studies in Mexico! 🇲🇽 🤝 🇮🇪

You will always have a home away from home here at Spanish Point. 🌊💙

🔥 Congratulations to our Senior Sports Stars of the Year for 2026! 🔥

We are absolutely thrilled to recognise three outstanding students who have represented both our school and their counties with distinction over the last few years.

Each of these athletes played a vital role on our Senior Football teams, delivering exceptional performances throughout the season. They have worn the school jersey with immense pride, and we couldn't be prouder of their incredible accomplishments both on and off the field! 🏆🏐

Please join us in celebrating this year's stars:

⭐ Darragh Townsend – Darragh was a key member of our school's Senior Football Team this year and represented the Clare Under 20 Footballers. He has been a true leader throughout his time in the school and was an integral part of our Boys' Football Team that achieved All-Ireland success in 2023. Darragh is a fantastic role model for our younger students, both academically and sports-wise, and we wish him every success in the future!

⭐ Aoibheann Ryan – Aoibheann has been a brilliant student and sports star throughout her time in Spanish Point. She won her third Munster Senior Ladies title in a row this year, alongside her third Clare Ladies Senior A title, playing a vital role in all of that success. This year, she was joint-captain as our Ladies' Footballers captured the Munster Senior A title and reached the All-Ireland Final. Always driving standards and providing leadership, Aoibheann also represented her county with distinction at Minor level this year, reaching the Munster final. We wish Aoibheann the very best and continued success in the future!

⭐ Abi Kelly – Abi, like Aoibheann, has achieved unprecedented success both personally and with our school over the last number of years. An extremely talented sportsperson, Abi has been an outstanding performer on both the Gaelic football and rugby fields. Along with being an integral part of our Senior Ladies' Football Team, Abi represented her country with distinction this year in the U18 Six Nations Championships, earning her first international cap. To represent her country in the Six Nations, play for Clare Ladies Football at both Minor and Intermediate levels, and excel for our school team on the road to the All-Ireland Final—all in the past 12 months—is a true testament to her hard work, commitment, and talent. We look forward to seeing Abi excel in the year ahead!
