A free bag of books is available in all Cork County Council Library branches from this Friday, 15th May for all children starting school this September — a perfect way to begin their reading journey.

📣Our Library and Arts Service has announced the return of the “My Little Library Book Bag” initiative for all children starting primary school this September.

🎒From 15th May 2026, all children starting primary school in Autumn 2026 are invited to visit their local library to pick up a free book bag and take the first step on their library membership journey. The bags will be available throughout the summer, while stocks last.

📖Each book bag includes:
• A selection of books in Irish and English focused on themes like starting school, making friends, and building confidence.
• Free library membership for the child.
• A specially designed library card wallet to help new readers feel excited and proud about joining the library.
