Forgive your enemy, but remember the bastard's name! Scottish Proverb

Many people have the wrong idea about forgiveness. They wrongly believe that that forgiving someone who has done you wrong is equivalent to letting him get by with what he did or that it indicates that what he did was okay. Neither of these is true.

Forgiving your enemy has nothing to do with your enemy; it is for YOU, not him. This is so hard for most people to comprehend. Holding grudges can effect you mentally, spiritually, and physically. It has been proven that it can actually make you sick and weaken your immune system.

Holding on to a grudge can lead to a lot of negative energy in the form of hate, anger, and the desire for revenge. The more you allow negative thoughts about what your enemy has done, to remain in your mind, the more negative energy you allow into your life. You are allowing him free rent in your mind and you are keeping your wound open, instead of allowing it to heal.

Forgiving your enemy does not mean that you are allowing him to get away with his malicious deeds, nor does it mean that you are saying what he did is okay. It simply means you are removing him from your mind and refusing to allow what he did to continue to effect you in any way. It is for YOU, your health, and your peace of mind. It is important for YOU, no one else.

At the same time, file your enemy's name, character, and actions away in your memory for later reference. Many people say, "Forgive and forget," but I say, "Forgive, but never forget." Don't forget what a piece of trash your enemy truly is. Don't forget about his lack of character, honor or integrity. Don't forget what he is capable of and who he truly is. All of these things are important to know about your enemy.

This is what the Scottish mean when they say, "Forgive your enemy, but remember the bastard's name!" Forgive for yourself, and remember for your self-defense. Forgiveness doesn't mean that you don't hit back; it simply means that you quit replaying the past over and over again in your mind, and that you don't allow his actions to continue to have any power over you.

Only the strong can forgive because it takes a lot of discipline and self-control to remove the fools of the world from your mind. The weak never forgive because they take the easy road paved with hate, anger and revenge. The wise man, on the other hand, is disciplined enough to do what is best for him, no matter how hard that may be. Be wise, be strong, and WARRIOR UP! A Must Have Manual - for the Serious American Kenpo enthusiast from the Mind of Senior Grand Master Ed Parker.......

🕸The Web of Knowledge is a foundational conceptual roadmap created by Senior Grandmaster Ed Parker around 1982 to organize the techniques and principles of American Kenpo Karate.

🕸Overview of the Web of Knowledge

Purpose: It serves as a visual and mental framework to help students understand how individual self-defense techniques connect, evolve, and relate to one another.

Evolution: The system transitioned from an earlier 32-technique concept into a refined 24-technique core curriculum per belt level that encompasses all fundamental motions.

🕸Attack Categories: The web categorizes common street attacks into 9 primary groups:

Grabs and Tackles

Pushes

Punches

Kicks

Holds and Hugs

Chokes and Locks

Weapon Attacks

Multiple Attacks

Combinations of the above

🥋Progression: Training typically starts at the yellow belt level with simple grabs, advancing methodically to complex combinations and multi-attacker or weapon scenarios.

You can explore more foundational principles through:

The International Kenpo Karate Association (IKKA) and The International Kenpo Karate Association (IKKA) Europe and other American Kenpo Organisations.
