On Wednesday we had the great pleasure of opening our new school garden in memory of our teacher Ms Shaughnessy.

This beautiful space was created for reflection, friendship, laughter and play and we know the children of Garbally NS will enjoy it for many years to come.

School year 2025-2026 ✅️

As we close our doors on another school year, we say goodbye to our wonderful 6th class pupils. It has been a pleasure to watch you learn and grow over the years, into the people to have become today. We wish you all the best as you move on into secondary school and beyond. 👏🎓

After 14 years in Garbally NS, we are also saying goodbye to our SNA, Bernie. The children gave her a warm welcome on her last day and presented her with cards they had made. While everyone will miss Bernie around Garbally, we wish her all the very best as she relaxes and enjoys this next chapter 💛

🏆We were delighted to welcome past pupil Grace Roche and her teammate Ciara Doyle (Athenry) back to the school with the Kate Moran Cup following Galway's fantastic victory in the All-Ireland U16 Camogie Championship.

It was a proud occasion for our school community to celebrate their incredible achievement and dedication to the sport. We congratulate Grace, Ciara and their teammates, and management on a wonderful success.🏆

🌿🦋 School Tour to Galway’s Living Bog 🦋🌿

Our pupils from 2nd to 6th Class had a fantastic day exploring Galway’s Living Bog in Mountbellew on a recent school trip!

The children enjoyed a guided walk through the beautiful bogland, where they learned about the importance of bogs in Ireland’s natural environment. They discovered how bogs are formed over thousands of years, the unique plants and wildlife that call the bog home, and the vital role bogs play in storing carbon and protecting biodiversity.

The tour guides shared fascinating facts about peat, traditional turf cutting, and the conservation work being carried out to protect these special habitats for future generations. The children were excited to spot a variety of bog plants and insects while exploring the boardwalk trails.

It was a wonderful opportunity for hands-on learning, outdoor adventure, and appreciating the natural beauty of our local environment. 🌱💚

A big thank you to the staff at Galway’s Living Bog for such an engaging and educational experience!

Congratulations to our second class pupils who received their First Holy Communion this weekend. We are so proud of you all.

🏑⚽️ Cumann na mBunscol ⚽️🏑

Over the last few weeks our senior classes have enjoyed partaking in hurling, camogie and football Cumann na mBunscol blitzes.

While we didn't come away with any silverware, the boys and girls competed to a really high level and we are so proud of the effort, commitment and positive attitude the teams displayed.

We had an enjoyable and successful day today with both our boys and girls teams reaching their respective finals.

Congratulations to the boys who won their competition and brought home the shield 🏆
