Rafferty Montessori incorporates Montessori methodology and equipment into its pre-school educational programme. “Montessori” is not a system for training children in academic studies but a method of observing and following the interests of the children, and continually adapting the environment from which they learn, by means of experimentation and research, what they need to know in order to contribute to society and the environment, and to become fulfilled persons in their particular time and place on Earth. In Rafferty Montessori our curriculum caters for children from 3 to 6 years. The children enter a prepared and ordered environment. There is no front or back to the classroom, nor do the children have particular desks. The materials are kept on low open shelves where there is intentionally only one of each piece of equipment. This encourages self-discipline, as each child must wait its turn. They are given the opportunity and responsibility of choosing their own work and over a period, the children develop into a kinship, working with high concentration and with few interruptions. The children learn to co-operate and interact successfully with other classmates and with the teachers. The Montessori environment will fully satisfy the requirements of your child’s developmental stages. They will explore the world through their senses and own activity. They will develop a love of learning.
