We're really excited to be teaming up with The Glucksman to deliver a series of online bookmaking workshops as part of the Programme! 🌞 🎨

The aim of the workshops is to explore a variety of activities with simple materials, that will develop your artistic skills and encourage creativity. Each workshop is carefully designed to provide age-appropriate projects, and are delivered by The Glucksman's friendly facilitators. A list of basic materials required (that can be found at home) and instructions for online log-in will be emailed to registered participants. The sessions are free, but registration is required! ✏️

The name of this Saturday's workshop is 'My Family Book'. In this workshop, participants will look at illustration and bookbinding techniques to help them create their own family book. Taking inspiration from Mary Murphy's artwork, participants will be guided through activities and approaches to develop funny and interesting characters, and they will look at how they can ensure their story is unique- just like everyone's family! 😀

If you are looking for ways to support your child's literacy, numeracy, & writing skills while schools are closed, then we can help! 📚📝

📒The free NEWSTART programme offers users a literacy information booklet full of valuable advice including book recommendations and practical videos suitable for children in primary school.

📔You can download the booklet at https://www.corkcoco.ie/en/library-services/Young-members. 🎬There you can also find informational videos from an Occupational Therapist and a Dyslexia Tutor, which provide practical tips and hints for children with a dyslexia or dyspraxia diagnosis.

🖥️It also offers TTRS (Touch-Type Read and Spell) a multi-sensory online course that teaches touch-typing, reading and spelling at the same time, with step-by-step online tuition, feedback and scores. Once you receive login details, it can be accessed privately at home.
This programme aims to help children with reading, writing, spelling and counting, keyboard skills and literacy issues such as dyslexia and dyspraxia. ✏

The course would benefit students who experience literacy difficulties, as well as those learning English as a second language (ESL). The course is very user-friendly. There are many different levels and modules which learners can work through and improve on, and on completion you can get a Certificate of Completion to represent all the hard work you have done! 🏆
