When life gets busy, I think we ask ourselves the wrong question.

We ask:

“How am I going to keep doing EVERYTHING?”

Maybe the better question is:

“What’s the smallest version of looking after myself that I can realistically keep doing?”

Maybe the hour-long workout becomes a 10-minute walk.

Maybe meals aren’t perfect, but breakfast stays.

Maybe you can’t manage your full routine, but you keep your water up.

Maybe the house is chaotic, but you protect your bedtime.

Your minimum isn’t failure.

It’s the little bridge that stops a busy week becoming:

“Ah sure, I’ll start again next month.”

You can turn the volume down without switching yourself off completely. 💚

What’s YOUR non-negotiable when life gets hectic?

27/08/2026

August in Club hasn’t been full of dramatic scans.

People have holidays.
Barbecues.
Visitors.
Weddings.
Weekends away.
Life.

A lot of people are simply holding their own.

And do you know what?

I’m actually delighted with that.

Because the old pattern can be:

“I’ve blown it now anyway. I’ll start again in September.”

Whereas the new pattern is:

“I’m enjoying August. I’m doing what I can. And I’m staying connected.”

Sometimes progress is losing a stone.

And sometimes progress is NOT needing to lose the same stone all over again in September.

That counts too. 💚

I’m curious about this one…

What ACTUALLY recharges your battery?

Not what a wellness article tells you should. 😅

For some people it’s:
☕ Quiet and nobody needing anything.
🚶 A walk alone.
🌱 Gardening.
😴 Sleep.
🎶 Music.
👭 Friends and a good laugh.
🏃 Moving their body.
📖 A book and an early night.

We’re very good at noticing when our phone hits 10%.

We’re not always quite as good at noticing ourselves. 😂

So… what genuinely brings YOU back to life?

26/08/2026

I genuinely don’t understand people who recharge by socialising. 😂

Give me a busy weekend, a couple of events and a few extra meetings and I’m looking for a quiet room and nobody to speak to me for an hour.

But other people come ALIVE from being around people.

And it got me thinking…

We talk a lot about self-care as though it looks the same for everyone.

Go for a walk. Have a bath. Meet friends. Take time out.

But maybe the better question is:

“What actually restores ME?”

Because if your battery is running low, doing somebody else’s version of self-care probably isn’t going to charge it.

Knowing what restores you is part of looking after yourself too.

Is anyone else finding August strangely exhausting? 😅

I love the longer evenings, weekends away, events, catching up with people and all the lovely things summer brings.

But I’ve noticed something in myself lately.

My usual self-care routine has become harder to hold onto.

Not because I’ve stopped caring.

I’m simply using more of my battery elsewhere.

A busy weekend rolls into work… then there’s another meeting, another event, another plan… and suddenly the downtime I normally use to recharge has disappeared.

And yes, I remain fascinated by those people who apparently RECHARGE by socialising. 🤪😂

It reminded me that looking after ourselves doesn’t always need to look the same.

Maybe this isn’t the week for doing everything.

Maybe it’s the week for asking:

“What do I need to KEEP so I don’t completely run myself into the ground?”

Sometimes consistency is simply keeping a few promises to yourself while life is full. 💚

Weight loss is often the reason people walk through our door.

But listen to what they start telling me a few weeks later.

“I’m less cranky at home.”
“I have more patience with the kids.”
“I’m not as wrecked in the evening.”
“I’m getting little jobs done again.”
“I’m walking more.”
“My clothes feel better.”
“I’m actually saying yes to things.”

That’s why I keep saying weight loss isn’t really the goal.

It can be a lovely side effect.

But feeling well enough to enjoy your actual life?

That’s the bit I’m interested in.

Sometimes “getting back on track” sounds far more dramatic than it actually is.

Lorna came back to us recently after losing her mojo for a while.

This week she casually said:

“I stopped buying cakes.”

That was it.

No grand declaration.
No perfect week.
No sudden personality transplant. 😅

Just one decision that told her: I’m back looking after myself again.

And that’s often how change begins.

Not with a massive overhaul.

With one little decision that makes the next decision easier. 💚

Here’s something we don’t celebrate enough:

The things that used to take WILLPOWER… but eventually just became normal.

Drinking more water.
Eating breakfast.
Going for the walk.
Not buying the cakes.
Leaving the crisps on the shelf.
Going to bed earlier.
Actually making time to look after yourself.

At first, every choice can feel like a decision.

Then one day you realise…

“Oh. I just do this now.”

That’s a pretty powerful kind of progress.

What’s one thing you do now without thinking that the old you would have found difficult?

18/08/2026

I overheard the funniest conversation in Club.

One woman said, “I’ve stopped buying cakes.”

And another said, “I still go down the crisp aisle. I stare at them… pick up a packet… read the back… put it down… pick up another one…”

And I realised something.

I’m so far removed from that stage now that I’d forgotten what the WANTING feels like.

When you’re changing a habit, sometimes success doesn’t look like never wanting the thing.

Sometimes it looks like standing in the crisp aisle having a full-blown negotiation with yourself… and putting the packet back. 😂

That counts.

Eventually, the decision that feels hard can become the one you barely think about anymore.

1½ stone down is lovely to see on a scan.

But this was the bit that caught me…

“I'm feeling 20 YEARS younger.”

Because what does that actually mean?

Maybe it’s waking up a bit fresher and less of the groggy 🥴
Walking a little easier on the hills.
Doing things you’d quietly stopped bothering with, those chores you just never get to.
Feeling more like joining in, instead of hiding away at home.
Having more patience, cause your not snapping at your nearest and dearest.
Or simply feeling a little more like yourself again.

We often start because we want the number on the scales to change.

Then somewhere along the way, we realise the number might not be the biggest win at all. 💚

Sometimes a few ordinary daily habits can give you back far more than you expected.
