LEA is an innovative company which aims to help both Irish and Spanish students study abroad while learning a language. One of the best ways to do this is by having fun while studying. Our ethos of full immersion within the language will include local and cultural activities such as sports, museums, local festivals and gastronomy. This will enable students be and feel part of the community, theref

ore improving their education and wellbeing. Our academic approach is focused on building fluency and obtaining a natural love of the language and culture. In cooperation with our partners in Spain we offer both nationalities the opportunity to study with either Irish or Spanish Students (as the case may be) We recognise that it is extremely important for every student to be treated as an individual, and so to allow us to offer the best service possible.

Junior Mini-Stay Programmes (with East & West Coast Options)

Dear Students,

Through Horizon Language Schools, we offer an exciting and innovative Mini-Stay Programme for student groups wishing to visit Ireland off-season. Students have the option of receiving 15 hours of English Language classes per week including Placement Test and End of Course Review.

In this programme we offer the opportunity to students to experience daily life in an Irish Secondary School, sharing lessons and activities with Irish students in their own classrooms if they wish to do so.

Students can either stay with our carefully chosen Host Families and experience 'living' as a family in an Irish home OR choose a 3* Hotel Stay option. Afternoon Activities, Cultural Evenings, Bowling, Trips to the Cinema etc. are all available if required and are included in the price. One and a half day Excursions to some of Ireland's top cultural and historical venues (Mainly Dublin & Galway) combined with a little shopping are also included each week.

EAST Coast (Near Dublin) Option

Your Accommodation base will be in Mullingar (50mins from Dublin Airport) just outside Dublin. English Classes will take place in our Year Round School in Mullingar and Integration Classes and School visits will be in local Secondary Schools. There will be at least two Excursions weekly to Dublin City Centre.

WEST Coast (Near Galway) Option

Your Accommodation base will be in the lovely town of Westport (voted Ireland's prettiest town) in the West of Ireland. Integration Classes and School visits will be in local Secondary Schools. There will be a Full Day Excursion to Galway and Connemara.
Horizon offers International Students the opportunity to attend and study in an Irish Second Level School for a Part-Term, Full-Term or a Full Academic Year.

Who is our programme suitable for?

Horizon’s exciting and rewarding Academic Year Programme is open to students aged 12 to 18 and is available at a number of selected Second Level Schools, both Public and Private, throughout Ireland. Due to Horizon’s unrivalled experience and success in providing summer camps in some of Ireland’s most prestigious schools, we are in the enviable position of being able to offer a wide choice of schools to prospective students.

Accommodation
Students who book the Private School Option will stay in Residence in the Boarding School. Students who select the Public School Option will stay with local, carefully selected host families for the duration of their attendance at the school.

During their stay the Student will be immersed in the day to day curriculum of the school and sometimes at weekends and the Host Family will help facilitate this. All our Host Families are interviewed and trained by Horizon and have completed a Police Check procedure.

Irish Summer Camps with Language, Culture & Activities

Our Experience?

For many years now we have been welcoming thousands of Overseas Students to learn English in the company of English speaking Irish students during their action-packed and rewarding residential Irish Experience.

This, combined with our Academic expertise, Exciting Cultural/Activity Programmes and of course the Interaction with the Irish Students makes us the unrivalled and ideal choice for a unique English Language Learning experience for your child.

What we offer

Students develop their language skills, build confidence and foster a love of the language. Speaking confidence, understanding and comprehension all improve dramatically and all this while they are thoroughly enjoying themselves safely in a foreign country!

How does is work?

Students have two options to choose from to start their Horizon English Language Experience…

A. English Classes with Activities: students have formal English classes (usually for 15 hours but more can be organised on request) Monday to Friday mornings. Students are assessed on arrival to ensure they are allocated to the class most appropriate to their level of English. Small classes with stimulating lessons are taught by specialised teachers who place equal emphasis on the following skills: reading, listening, spoken, comprehension and language development.. Students spend their afternoons participating in exciting activities with their Irish and international friends which requires them to speak English to communicate.

B. Activities Only (no participation in Classes): the same as Option A but without taking part in Formal English Classes. Students spend their time fully integrated with their Irish and international friends on a daily Action packed Adventure and Activity programme. This has proven to encourage rapid language development and speaking confidence whilst having fun and making new friends.

What activities will I do?

Our basic programme is English plus Multi-Activity which will enable students to use English in real-life scenarios. Please see page 6 to see the more details on this option. Specialist Programmes (such as Golf, Pony, Rugby, Tennis etc.)are also available and can be selected with or without English Classes.

Assessment, Reporting and Certification

Students complete class projects, debates and inter-class activities which all contribute to classes proving to be rewarding and beneficial. Teachers assess and record student performance under those headings and provide a written report and certificate upon completion of the course which ensures an accurate portrayal of student progress which can be brought back to the student’s parents and school.



Excursions

Each week your child will take part in a supervised, well organised Excursions to places of Historical and Cultural importance in the company of their newly made International friends. There will be plenty of time allowed also for the all important activity of Shopping, again fully supervised by Horizon monitors to ensure your childs safety and security.

Dublin

Shopping… Dublin is a shopper’s paradise with countless & amazing shops to for all interests... music, technology, fashion and culture. Dublin has a range of shops all equipped to make your heart beat. The prominent shopping centres and areas include St. Stephen’s Green Centre, Grafton Street, Liffey Valley and Dundrum Town Centre. Dublin has iconic shops to suit all tastes from the luxurious Brown Thomas to the phenomenally popular Penneys!

Museums... Dublin has a very rich and interesting history both in terms of the actual city and the people who are its residents. The city boasts multiple museums which you can visit to experience and learn about Irish history and culture which are famous all over the world. You can visit museums dedicated to Irish history, culture and art such as The Guinness Storehouse, The Natural History Museum and The National Gallery.

Activities... Dublin has lots of exciting excursion experiences such as JIG where students can learn about Irish dancing, see a specialised show and even try dancing... perfect for Riverdance fans the world over! SPLASH affords students the thrill of experiencing Dublin’s famous River Liffey in a unique amphibian craft and browsing in the famous Trinity College Library could herald the arrival of a new Joyce, Beckett or Binchy!
