Would any of my fellow musicians/music teachers and in particular piano teachers have much knowledge or experience of the Trinity College London grade exams? Considering I'm a piano teacher, I know much more about their guitar exams as I have prepared for some in the past. I've checked online and have got the requirements of the exams but experience of putting students in for these exams is something I don't have, I've only ever used the RIAM and ABRSM. I would be grateful for any feedback, especially in relation to syllabus, is it varied, how does it compare with the boards I mentioned above? Also how exams are judged/marked, is the overall musical expression more important than tecnical versatility? Any info would be hugely appreciated, thanks.

Our current term of lessons officially ends this Saturday 13th December. We will resume lessons week of the 5th January, 2026. Thanks so much to everyone for choosing the Lee Valley Academy of Music for your/your childs music training, we hope it has been an enjoyable experience for all...it certainly has been for us.
