It is with profound sadness that the DLS community learned of the passing of our past pupil, Ciarán Ó Lionáird.
Ciarán was a valued member of our school community and is remembered with great pride and affection by all who knew him. During his time in De La Salle, his talent, determination and passion for athletics were already evident, and it was clear that he possessed a remarkable drive to succeed.
In the years that followed, Ciarán went on to achieve extraordinary success on the national and international stage. He proudly represented Ireland at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and won a bronze medal in the 3000 metres at the 2013 European Athletics Indoor Championships. His achievements inspired countless young athletes and brought immense pride to his family, friends, former teachers, classmates and the wider Macroom community.
Today, we remember not only Ciarán’s outstanding sporting accomplishments, but also the person behind them – a proud Macroom man whose dedication, resilience and commitment to excellence left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Ciarán’s family, loved ones, friends, former classmates and teammates at this deeply difficult time.
