Hi everyone

I am currently undertaking research to meet the requirements of a Master of Arts in Creative Psychotherapy (Humanistic & Integrative Modality) with the Children’s Therapy Centre, in Limerick, Ireland. This research study has been reviewed and approved by the CTC Ethics Board.

The title of my research is:

What are the experiences of parents/guardians of daughters who receive a late autism spectrum disorder (ASD) diagnosis in Ireland?

(For the purposes of this research study a late ASD diagnosis is defined as a diagnosis made at 10 years of age and older).

I’m reaching out to parent/guardians in this group in the hope that you could share or participate (if your daughter recieved a diagnosis of ASD at 10 or older) in a short questionnaire (5-10minutes), and to also seek two parents/guardians who would be interested in participating in an interview.
Type form will be used to conduct the questionnaire, and Zoom will be used for interviews. Both platforms comply with EU data protection regulations (GDPR). Participation in the questionnaire is voluntary and anonymous.

It is my hope that this research can help work towards raising awareness on any potential gaps in support services for parents’/guardians, give a voice to parent/guardians perspectives on the diagnostic process for ASD, and highlighting any barriers faced by parents/guardians on accessing a timely diagnosis.
If you are interested in participating in the interview, please contact me on [email protected] (participation is voluntary and all data will be anonymised).
