🎃👻 A HUGE THANK YOU! 👻🎃

A massive thank you to the wonderful TY students and staff of Sancta Maria Secondary School for their very kind invitation to our preschool children to join you for a Halloween disco this morning! 🧡🕷️🦇

Our little ones had the BEST time! 🥰🎉 They absolutely loved the face painting 🎨👩‍🎨, the fun games 🎯🤩 and all the Halloween fun! 🎃👻 It was such a lovely morning, and we are so grateful to you all for making our children feel so welcome and creating such wonderful memories for them! 🧡✨

A special thank you also to Brendan, our bus driver 🚌💛, for safely bringing our little pumpkins 🎃 to and from the event!

Thank you to everyone involved for your kindness, time and effort in organising such a fantastic morning for our preschoolers. It was very much appreciated by us all! 🥰🧡

We are so proud to show off some of the amazing artwork created by our wonderful preschool children! 🥰❤️

From our beautiful autumn trees, bursting with colourful leaves 🍁🍂, to our spooky little spiders 🕷️🕸️, the children have been busy exploring their creativity, experimenting with colours and textures, and bringing their wonderful imaginations to life!

It’s so lovely to see each child’s own personality shine through in their creations. Every picture is unique, special and something to be proud of! 🌟

🎒 “𝗜 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗼 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹.” 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲?

Most parents will have experienced the occasional morning when a child simply doesn’t want to go to school.

But for some families, it becomes much more than an occasional difficult morning.

New Barnardos research found that:

🎒 21% of primary parents said their child refused or avoided school at least once a month.

🏫 At secondary level, that rose to 33% of parents.

Parents identified issues including friendships, anxiety, difficulties engaging with lessons, classwork and bullying. Parents of children with additional educational needs also reported significant gaps between the supports their children need and those they receive.

Sometimes a child saying “I don’t want to go” can be telling us much more than those five words suggest.

It might look like:

😟 distress on Sunday evenings
🤢 feeling unwell before school
🚗 struggling to leave the car at the school gate
😢 becoming upset when school is mentioned
📚 worrying constantly about particular classes
👥 difficulties with friendships or bullying

The important thing is trying to understand what sits behind the behaviour, rather than assuming a child is simply being difficult.
