Our juniors battled to a hard earned draw with Swinford today in the Junior Championship on a final score line of 3-16 to 3-16. Well done to Swinford on a brilliant game of football with great scores on either end all throughout the game. We play Belmullet next. Well done lads.

🏫 First Year Enrolment 2027/2028 – Applications Open until October 22nd

Don’t just take our word for it!

Our recent Department of Education inspection recognised the warm, welcoming and inclusive learning environment at Sancta Maria College, highlighting our celebration of neurodiversity, creativity, outstanding learning spaces and the strong culture of collaboration among our teachers.

💚 We are enormously proud of this recognition because it reflects what we believe makes Sancta Maria special – a school where every young person is known, valued, encouraged and given the opportunity to flourish.

At Sancta Maria, students enjoy:
🌟 A welcoming school community where everyone belongs.

📚 Excellent teaching and learning, with a broad range of subjects and opportunities.

🎨 Creativity, innovation and inspiring learning spaces.

💙 A strong commitment to wellbeing, inclusion and student voice.

⚽ A vibrant school life filled with sport, music, drama and extracurricular opportunities.

🌍 A school that celebrates individuality and helps every student discover their strengths.

Choosing a secondary school is about so much more than choosing a place to learn. It’s about choosing a place to belong, to grow in confidence, to make lifelong friendships and to discover who you can become.

🎶 Happy Friday from Sancta Maria College! 🎶

What better way to get you in the mood for the weekend than some fantastic traditional Irish music! Trad music sessions run every week at lunchtime and we were delighted to be joined by the champion Irish flute player, Cian Kilkenny. Cian has joined the SMC family while he completes his teacher training, and our students are incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to play alongside and learn from such a talented musician.

A big thank you to Conor Harris from ‘The Other Side of Life’ for visiting our TY students today. During the talk, Conor shared his personal journey through addiction and recovery and spoke openly about his teenage years and his passion for helping young people. Conor’s talk is always one of the most engaging and impactful stories our TYs get the opportunity to listen to and we really appreciate him coming in and sharing his experience with us.

Congratulations to all of our current TY and 5th Year students who received their Junior Certificate results today. It is an important milestone and an opportunity to recognise the hard work and commitment they have shown throughout their Junior Cycle.

Thank you to the teachers and families who supported them along the way. We hope everyone enjoys celebrating with family and friends, and stays safe while doing so.

🌟 Your next chapter begins at Sancta Maria College!

Choosing a secondary school means choosing a place where your child can feel welcome, grow in confidence and discover what they can achieve.

At Sancta Maria College, students can look forward to:

💚 Positive, respectful relationships with teachers in a safe and encouraging learning environment.
🔎 Lessons that spark curiosity, invite questions and help students understand their progress.
🤝 Opportunities to learn together, share ideas and develop confidence.
🎨 Creative, active learning that encourages students to explore and think for themselves.
🌍 Experiences beyond the classroom through our Science Fair, guest speakers, outings and school trips.

These are strengths recognised by the Department of Education Inspectorate, which found that almost all students surveyed felt they were getting on well with their learning. Full report available on gov.ie

Independent evaluations of all schools are available through the inspection process.
