Summer 2016 Announcement :
To our many Creative Kids friends, we regret to announce that this summer (2016) we will not be running our usual annual summer camp.
However, this is only a temporary break and we look forward to returning to full operation soon.
We will miss meeting up with our regular pals and fully intend to catch up very soon.
Keep an eye on our page for upcoming plans.
Big hugs to our little friends!
Kind regards,
Ailbhe & team.

We bid a fond farewell to our latest batch of 'Creative Kid Campers' with a nautical theme. Lots of oceanic themed arts & crafts and yesterday we had a visit from a genuine sea captain!!! He told us of his adventures as a young sailor on the South China Seas and the children had prepared an extensive list of questions for him.
The class were delighted to each receive an RNLI yellow wellington boot badge.
Thanks to a terrific crew who made sure things went swimmingly for the kids :-)
Lindsey, Niamh, Shona, Sarah, Kealan and of course the old Seadog himself, Captain Kevin!
I wonder what adventures next week will bring?

Second week of camp firmly underway...
We have a whole new group of imaginative, inquisitive, playful kids. Today we see the children really settling in with some terrific new friendships forged. It really is a pleasure to laugh and play together... I think this may be the best job in the world!
Each week we introduce a number of craft characters to the group and see where the children take the story.
This week we find ourselves on Magic Mountain with the Grand Old Duke of York and his Ten Thousand Men making the difficult ascent to the top where sits a glorious castle. The journey is an interesting one as the armour clad soldiers have to make it up the mountain past it's magical inhabitants.
We had great fun today creating a mountain and castle using old cardboard boxes...we're very glad we remembered to bring aprons & old T-shirts (there was a lot of painting). The children also created some very interesting villagers to protect the castle from the invaders. Each villager was interviewed before taking their place inside the castle 'X-Factor' style..great fun, buzzers and all !!!
The paint is drying tonight and tomorrow we begin to assemble and decorate and develop the story further.
We've left the villagers guarding the castle, I wonder what kind of mischief they're getting up to?
It's a story in progress, but I thought you'd like to take a peek at the work so far....

Today started out bright and dry, perfect for quick drying our Creative Kid Masks. Sponged on a variety of light'n'bright colour paints on to the paper masks and set them out to cook in the sunshine while we had our elevenseseseses.
After some outdoor play the sky turned grey. Time to gather up the masks and set to work with markers, glue, feathers, sparkles and paper. Very happy with the results! What do you think?
We even had time for everyone to make their very own milk carton bird feeder to bring home to their own gardens....party time for the birdies!!!

Yikes!!! Week 1 of camp is flying by!
The children are terrific, full of imagination and ideas and really engaged with our Fantasy theme.
Fact and fantasy collided when discussing Fairy forts and Woodland sprites, the talk turned to woodland creatures we see for real. Some budding ornithologists in our group!
The upshot was that yesterday we suspended making our fantasy Fairy Castle, and instead created an interesting feeder for our feathered friends.
Hope the birds enjoyed the feast of mixed seeds and dried mealworms.
Today we got back to work on our cardboard box castle & Fairy theatre...sparkle everywhere!

Giant Beanstalk update: The pirates got wind of the treasure in the Giant's castle. They set course for Giant Island in their pirate ship "The Beastly Barnacle" waving their cutlasses. They lost a man overboard as they hit the shore. Jack took refuge inside the Giant's treasure chest staying well out of sight.
As the pirates climbed the beanstalk they were set upon by Jack's pal Jill and an assortment of Teeny Tiny Ghosts who live among the the vines. Pandemonium!....Jack tried playing his magic guitar to lull the pirates into a magical sleep. Mammys and Daddys arrived to collect the children as the battle was raging. I wonder will the little ghosties be able
to hold the fort until morning?
Thanks to Ava, Jenny, Kate, Eva and Tom for constructing a terrific pirate vessel. Conor, Bill, Johnny, Cillian,Matthew and Robert are fearsome as the pirates. Molly, Eva, Hannah, Jenny, Kate and Kitty are terrific as the Jills & Ghosties and of course Tom as the very brave little Jack. I wonder how this is all going to pan out? We'll keep you posted. Ailbhe & Trudy.
