With all the talk and media coverage of the upcoming presidential elections, we thought that we would ask our students to chime in!

We asked our 24/25 cohort what they would change about education if they were elected President of Ireland. We gathered nearly 300 responses, so what were the common themes?

📍 Leaving Certificate reform: not just continuous assessment and projects, but diverse and meaningful ways to display knowledge and skills.
📍 Extra support: easy to access support across academics, study skills, career guidance, and mental health.
📍 Listening to the student voice: many students expressed frustration, feeling that they were not being listened to. The adults in their lives were acting on assumptions about what they needed, rather than asking for what they wanted.
📍 An emphasis on life after school: Not just points and college places, but diverse pathways and life skills to set them up for success beyond the books.
📍 School/life balance: Manage student workloads so that they can lead happy, healthy and productive lives in school and beyond.

It is worth asking the young people in your life: "What changes would YOU make?"... We can't wait to ask our incoming 25/26 cohort!

jumpAgrade is seeking to develop their team and recruit a School Community Link Worker within the Cork region. This link worker will be the face of jumpAgrade on the ground in our network of 20 schools, working closely with school staff, students, and community partners to ensure that local needs are being met in a relevant, meaningful way.
