Horticulture is now on the curriculum here in St. Clement’s College. Mr. Griffin and Mr. Rea worked tirelessly during August to build the structure, with our TY’s and LCA’s rowing in over the past month to put the finishing touches on this new learning environment. This project has been a real testament to teamwork, creating a space where students will learn about sustainability and food security along with a plethora of cross curricular links to Science, Biology and Home Economics

Huge congratulations to 4th Year Sebastian who was top of his years Junior Cycle results - no mean feat with the incredible results received this week. Hard work and dedication to his studies saw Sebastian being awarded 5 Distinctions and 4 Higher Merits from the State Examination Commission. A big day for our Transition Year students who received their Junior Cycle examination results today from the State Examination Commission. A quick catch up over tea and biscuits calmed the nerves before the envelopes were opened. The nerves soon dissipated into smiles and laughs as the students revelled in their achievement. Huge congratulations to all of those who received results today. The entire staff are tremendously proud of the work you have put in thus far, and are excited to work with you as we continue on the path the of Senior Cycle. Well done 🙌

What a day today in UL! A sunny Sunday was the backdrop for some of our students and staff completing the Cook Medical Mini Marathon! We had runners across the 5KM and 10KM distances, with strong finishes from our experienced runners and those who completed their first race. Well done to all those who took part! Special thanks to Mr. Giltenane, Ms. Downes, Ms. O’Dwyer, and Mr. Tidswell for donning their running shoes and joining the lads 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️

Our TY students recently participated in an exciting JFK Forensic Workshop, where they learned about the science behind criminal investigations. Students explored how forensic experts collect and analyse evidence such as fingerprints, DNA, and other crime scene clues. The interactive workshop gave students a hands-on insight into forensic techniques and the important role they play in solving crimes. It was a highly engaging experience that encouraged critical thinking and introduced students to potential careers in science and law enforcement.

Our TYs attended the AXA Roadsafe Roadshow in the University of Limerick, where they heard from different perspectives and experiences of people involved and the emergency services from attending Road Traffic collisions. A big thank you to An Garda Síochána, Limerick Fire Service and Ambulance services for a well informative afternoon, and of course Mr Hall and Mrs Harty for chaperoning and Mr Giltenane organising.

Our new Dream Space Ambassador’s have been chosen for the coming year. The Dream Space Ambassador Programme is a flagship student leadership and STEM training initiative delivered by the Dream Space teams in Dublin. It is a full academic year programme designed to empower student leaders in STEM.
Throughout the year, Ambassador’s participate in a series of live virtual training sessions. During each session, students receive STEM training along with ready-to-use resources to bring back and implement within their setting.
The programme aims to:
Ignite students’ passion for STEM
Develop leadership and communication skills
Build confidence and collaboration
Strengthen digital and technological literacy
