💜 Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month 💜
October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, a time to remember and honour all the precious babies who are no longer with us.
We know that for those who have experienced baby loss, the feelings of love, grief and remembrance don’t belong to just one month. They can be felt at any time, and sometimes when we least expect them. Here at SSST, we feel it is important to take some time each year to come together, remember, and acknowledge all of those little lives that will always hold a special place in our hearts. 💜
🕯️ Thursday 15th October – Wave of Light 🕯️
On 15th October, as part of the Global Wave of Light, we will once again be opening our downstairs canteen as a quiet, warm and welcoming space.
Whether you would like to have a chat with someone, share a memory, sit quietly with a cup of tea, or simply take a moment for yourself, you are very welcome. There is no expectation to talk or explain how you are feeling. Sometimes having someone simply sit beside you is enough🤍
We will also have our Remembrance Tree on display, where you can add the name of your precious baby, or a baby you know and would like to remember. Each name will be a beautiful reminder that these little lives mattered, are loved and will never be forgotten. 🌿🕊️
Alongside our Remembrance Tree, there will also be tea lights available for you to light in memory of each precious baby. 🕯️🤍
We understand that this can be a very difficult and emotional subject for many people. Please know that you are never expected to take part in anything that doesn’t feel right for you. Our hope is simply to create a safe, gentle and understanding space where people can come together in whatever way feels comfortable.
On Thursday 15th October, we invite all our children and staff to come to crèche wearing purple or white, if possible, as we come together to remember and raise awareness.
🦋On the day, we will also be accepting small donations, with all money raised being donated to Féileacáin 🦋
💜Every donation, no matter how small, will help Féileacáin continue to be there for families when they need support most 💜
