What a fantastic first two days we’ve had welcoming our new First Year students to Laurel Hill Secondary School FCJ! ✨

There has been lots of fun, games and laughter, along with learning their way around the school, getting to know new classmates and plenty of questions and answers along the way! 🗺️📚🔐

We hope the last two days have helped everyone to feel a little more settled, confident and at home as they begin this exciting new chapter. 💚

A very special thank you to our wonderful 5th and 6th Year mentors who have given so generously of their time over the past few days. Your kindness, encouragement and friendly faces have played a huge part in making our newest students feel so welcome. 🌟

As we come to the end of another school year, Laurel Hill Secondary School FCJ bids a fond and heartfelt farewell to three much-valued members of our teaching staff as they begin their well-deserved retirement.

Ms Anne Lawless, teacher of Music and Irish, Ms Anne Cashman, teacher of Business and Accounting, and Mrs Áine Connors, teacher of Science, Chemistry and Maths, have collectively dedicated decades of service to the education and formation of young women in Laurel Hill Secondary School.

Through their passion for their subjects, they inspired creativity, curiosity, confidence and a love of learning in generations of students.

Beyond the classroom, Anne, Anne and Áine embodied the values of the FCJ tradition through their commitment, compassion, respect for each individual and dedication to nurturing the gifts and potential of every student entrusted to their care. Their contribution to school life has been immeasurable, and the positive impact they have had on students, colleagues and the wider school community will endure for years to come.

We thank them sincerely for their outstanding service and wish them every happiness, good health and fulfilment in this exciting new chapter of their lives.

A massive congratulations to our junior debate team who won the Limerick Junior Schools Debate Competition on Friday after proposing the motion that “Ireland needs to abandon its neutrality.”

The team displayed exceptional teamwork, confidence and debating skill throughout the competition and we are so proud of them. A huge well done as well to Ardscoil Mhuire, who were fantastic opponents in a brilliant final.

A wonderful way to conclude another hugely successful year of debating at Laurel Hill Secondary School.

We wish Ms Mary Frawley, our Physics and Maths teacher the very of luck at the 14th European Science on Stage festival which takes place 28-31 May 2026 in Klaipėda, Lithuania.

Ms Frawley will present her project ”Wavy Edges – Science and Maths with Crochet”.

We are extremely proud as Mary is one of four delegates selected from Ireland #, a fantastic achievement which shows the enthusiasm and energy that Mary brings to science teaching and STEAM in our school.

The Laurel Hill Soccer Awards were hosted yesterday in the school for the current First, U14 and Junior teams. A number of students received trophies for a range of categories such as Player Chosen Player and Soccer Spirit Award. Well done to everyone who received a trophy and to all the girls who participated in soccer this year. You did your school and your coaches very proud!
