I DREAM - - - poem
I dream of places I have been,
And hope to go again.
To walk in peace and friendship there.
To hope and dream and sin.
To memorise the smiles and love.
And peace of yesteryear.
To talk and walk with ones held dear,
To love and then to share...

In 2018 we started to teach a Bodhran Drumming Class and an Irish Ballad Singing Class on the Tuesday Evenings in Mary's Parish Men In Sheds Club premises in Nicholas Street up by the Castle.
It's 2026 we are still teaching Bodhran & Ballad Singing in the club and are also teaching Tin Whistle Classes and Guitar classes on Thursday nights. So if anyone in Limerick City or the Island is interested in learning Bodhran Drumming or Irish Ballad Singing, or Guitar get in contact with me and come along to a class.
We sing a few songs in Irish but mostly in ballads in english.
Our music teachers volunteer their time for free and use the money raised in the classes to help pay the bills and everyday running costs of our Men in Sheds club. Half of our class students are women.

I took up learning the guitar about a year ago. We have been running a guitar class in our Mary's Parish Men in Sheds in Limerick City for a year now. Half the people in our music classes are women. The craic is good and we have a good laugh it is a nice weekly social event with nice people. For the most part I am just practicing to play Irish songs and pop ballads with 3 chord tricks in them. I am really enjoying it and I am getting better, but I know I have a long way to go before I start playing songs from memory. I reckon another six months of practice will get me to where I want to go playing wise. Usually I try to play for half an hour to an hour a day at least.
Which shows you can teach an old dog new tricks, but the trick is to make it fun and enjoyable. I have two good Guitar teachers.
My brother gave me an old twelve string guitar of his, which has a nice resonant sound to it, it has a shimmering sound a cross between a harp banjo and six string acoustic. I also have a six string Bromo acoustic which has a lovely sound to it.
