What a wonderful evening as we celebrated 15 years of Dublin South Toastmasters! ππ€
The club was delighted to welcome former members, guests, and friends as we reflected on a journey that has helped hundreds of people grow in confidence, leadership, and communication since 2011.
π Special guests included club founder Eugene Creegan, former members John Kelly DTM and Claire Grogan, along with visitors Tarun, Richie, and Seamus.
π€ Highlights from the evening:
β’ John Kelly shared the story of how Dublin South Toastmasters began and what those early meetings looked like.
β’ Paddy Collins spoke about overcoming fear, practising courage, and building confidence through life and Toastmasters.
β’ Eoin Keane led an engaging Table Topics session, giving members and guests an opportunity to share their experiences and communication challenges.
β’ Chris Werner DTM moderated a fascinating panel discussion with Clare, Eugene, and Garvan Gallagher on βToastmasters Journeys: Growing through DSTM.β
π The evening's Crystal Anniversary theme was beautifully carried throughout the meeting by Toastmaster Orna Mulhern, who brought warmth, elegance, and thoughtful touches to every part of the celebration.
β After the formal meeting, members and guests enjoyed cupcakes, coffee, conversations, and plenty of reminiscing as old friendships were renewed and new connections were made.
π± A lovely finishing touch saw guests leaving with packets of flower seeds, a fitting reminder that growth often starts with a small step.
π A huge thank you to Orna Mulhern, Eoin Keane, and Eric Mullaly for helping organise such a memorable celebration, and to everyone who has contributed to Dublin South Toastmasters over the past 15 years.
Here's to the next chapter of learning, leadership, friendship, and growth! π₯

β¨ DSTM Meeting Summary β 19th May 2026 β¨
What an evening of unexpected adventures, reflection, laughter, and true serendipity at Dublin South Toastmasters π€
From the very beginning, the atmosphere was warm and engaging as Steve welcomed members alongside our visitors Midhun, Richard, and our good friend George from Sandyford. Our debutant Toastmaster set the tone perfectly by sharing stories of his own unexpected adventures, immediately drawing everyone into the spirit of the night.
π Monica beautifully delivered βThe Peace of Wild Thingsβ by Wendell Berry, bringing a thoughtful and calming moment to the meeting.
β¨ Nikita encouraged everyone to embrace the Word of the Day β Serendipity β while Chris, returning fresh from a different kind of Base Camp adventure, humorously reminded speakers of the dangers of going overtimeβ¦ apparently pneumonia awaits those who ignore the timer β°π
π The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly Alex Hannonβs engaging Moments of Truth workshop. Rarely conducted and full of valuable insights, the session sparked lively discussion, reflection, and participation from everyone in the room. Alex deservedly earned Best Contribution of the Evening π
ποΈ Rosemary then led an energetic Table Topics session, inviting both Annas, Chris, Orna, Steve Fitzgerald, and our guest Richard to think on their feet. Huge congratulations to Orna for winning Best Table Topics Speaker π
π The evaluations brought even more value to the evening:
Imelda delivered a fantastic evaluation of the Table Topics session
Orna gave an insightful evaluation of Alexβs workshop
Eric Mullaly, as General Evaluator, wrapped up the night with a supportive and encouraging overview of the entire meeting
Another memorable evening filled with learning, encouragement, humour, and connection π«
