St.Catherineās Priory. šš»
In 1219 the Priory of St.Catherineās was founded. The land had been given by the de Peche Family, the owners of the land of Lucan.
Benefactors of the Priory were Adam de Hereford, Lord of Leixlip and Warrisius de Peche, Lord of Lucan.
By 1323 it had fallen into bad condition and into severe poverty. It had to be assigned to the possession of the Abbey of St.Thomas, Dublin, until the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1537 by Henry VIII.
