The Senior Room are studying Life Long Ago, and today they brought in many fascinating objects that they found at home.
Among the interesting finds were a Tilley lamp, a beautiful christening robe purchased in Macy’s Department Store in New York over 80 years ago, old cutlery, laundry tongs, griddles, comics, pipes, a brace and bit, sheep shears, a bar-mounted corkscrew, and even the surround from a ship’s porthole window!
We had great fun examining all these wonderful objects and trying to guess what they were used for. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn about everyday life in the past and to appreciate the history behind these treasured items.

The Junior Room have been exploring Autumn! We enjoyed an autumn walk identifying the signs of autumn and got to know different trees and their leaves. During our leaf investigation, we took a closer look at the colours, shapes and textures of the leaves. We also got creative, making pumpkin leaf suncatchers to brighten our windows with beautiful autumn colours 🎃🍁

We are participating in the GLOBE Ireland Air Quality Campaign, measuring air quality around our school. We identified three zones to place air-quality tubes, which we will return to the lab after one month to receive our air-quality results.

Our Junior Room have been busy becoming geographers! 🌍 We explored how familiar places and objects look from a bird’s-eye view and proudly presented our findings to the class. We also investigated our school environment, identifying and sorting natural and human-made features. Super exploring everyone!🔍

The Senior Room carried out some fantastic research on one of our own greats, the renowned lexicographer Peter O’Connell.
They discovered what an incredible scholar Peter was for his time and learned about his remarkable contribution to the Irish language and scholarship. Killimer Local History Group

Best of luck to Killimer Local History Group today as they celebrate the Bi Centenary of lexicographer Peter O Connell.

We headed outside for a geography fieldwork walk around our school, becoming detectives along the way! 🔎
Working from our detective sheets, we explored our surroundings and searched for key items and features. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn about geography in a real-world setting.
We love getting outside and learning in our school environment! 🌿👣

As part of our Wellbeing Plan, we have decided to continue growing and harvesting our own vegetables. 🌱🥕
A big thank you to Michael, who kindly provided the plants and bulbs for our garden plot.
Today, we harvested the onions, leeks and beetroot that we planted before the summer. It was wonderful to see the results of our hard work.
We look forward to continuing to grow, harvest and enjoy our garden throughout the year!
