Donegal Primary School Sports Award
The green and Red of Dromore is certainly a winning combination!
What a tremendous honour it is for our school to be awarded Donegal Primary School Sports Award 2021. It brings with it positive energy, joy and a sense of celebration not alone to our children past and present, parents and staff but also to the local clubs and wider community.
A school is a part of its community not a part from it. Dromore is centred between Crossroads and Killygordon a community with a big passion for sport. The children have been nurtured by the local clubs, from a young age. We choose our stripes red and green 20 years ago in recognition of our clubs, Red Hughs (Red) Setanta and Curragh Athletics (Green) coincidently sharing the colours with a favourite county!
Our children have gained so many valuable life lessons through sports from team work, discipline, resilience and respect, how to win and lose graciously. They participate in many sporting activities including athletics, football, hurling, swimming, dance, tag rugby, handball, summer camps, playground games, cycling, WOW day, Inclusive Sports Hall Athletics, supported by organisations such as Donegal Sports partnership, Donegal GAA, Cumainn na mbunscoil, Donegal County Council, Finn Valley AC, Finn Harps Schools Programme, Active Schools Flag, Green Schools,
A big thanks to all our staff who daily encourage our children with differing abilities to enjoy what sport can give them, a special thanks to coaches, Sean, Dermot, Mark, Tanya, Oisín, Paul S, Declan B along with coaches and volunteers from the local clubs. Thanks also to Áine, Declan, staff and parents who trained and travelled with teams.
We are grateful to our parents throughout the years and to all those who supported us by supplying sporting equipment, raising funds for astro turf, ball courts, large sports hall and in more recent times 8 acres of ground for future sporting development.
Lastly and most importantly a big thanks to our wonderful children who make coming to school each day a joy and a privilege!
It is indeed a proud occasion for Dromore!

Calling all past pupils! Come celebrate Dromore's 101 celebration at our first annual 5k walk/run event. Starting tomorrow evening from the school at 7pm and registration from 5.30pm. Refreshments served in our hall after race. Its sure to be a great evening of fun and a great way to celebrate Dromore's birthday into the future! All welcome, looking forward to seeing you all there!

More celebrations coming up for Dromore this weekend! To mark Charlotte Brady's retirement from Dromore we will gather this Saturday 27th June at 8pm in Jackson's Hotel. Tickets are €10 and there will be buffet. All welcome! :) On behalf of the staff,children, parents, past pupils, board of management and local community we would like to thank Charlotte for her dedication to our school throughout her years here. We wish her every happiness for the future! Tickets on sale in school office. Come along to celebrate with us and don't forget to like and share :)
