The 6th Year Geography class enjoyed their annual field study to Killiney Beach, carrying out the coastal deposition investigation as part of their Leaving Certificate Geography course.

We are incredibly fortunate to have the stunning Killiney Beach just a stone’s throw from the school. Its beautiful coastline and wealth of geographical features make it the perfect outdoor classroom, allowing students to bring their learning to life in a real-world setting.

Equipped with wellies, fieldwork equipment and plenty of enthusiasm, the students investigated wind speed, wave height and frequency, beach sediment size and identified whether a summer or winter beach profile was present. A great example of teamwork and collaboration!

It was a fantastic morning of hands-on learning, teamwork and geographical investigation in one of Dublin’s most spectacular coastal settings, Killiney Beach 🌊📍🪨

What a fantastic morning at the Dublin Simon Community Home Run in the Phoenix Park on Saturday, October 3rd!

A huge ‘well done’ to our incredible HCK students, parents and staff who laced up their runners to help raise vital funds and awareness for people experiencing homelessness. The energy and enthusiasm was in true HCK spirit!

So far, the HCK community has raised over €1,000 🎉 … and there is still time to support this wonderful cause!

Five of our students – Ellie Begley, Laoise O’Riordan, Cecilia Xiao, Eleanor Reynolds and Zoe Kearney, recently travelled to Lourdes with Ms Moore as part of the Dublin Diocesan Pilgrimage, where they gave generously of their time and energy in service to sick and elderly pilgrims.

Taking on roles in Ward Duty and Stewarding, they demonstrated exceptional compassion, maturity, and dedication throughout the week. Ward Duty involved assisting pilgrims in many ways. They were responsible for cleaning wards as well as keeping the pilgrims company. Stewarding required managing crowds, flag bearing and accompanying pilgrims to and from ceremonies.

The students actively participated in liturgy duties and were also directly involved in the Stations of the Cross Ceremony and the Torchlight Procession, helping to create moments of profound prayer and reflection. Beyond their formal responsibilities, they embraced the joyful aspects of the pilgrimage such as singing and dancing with pilgrims enthusiastically at the singsong parties and accompanying pilgrims on shopping trips. Their selfless contributions, combining prayerful service with genuine warmth and fun, profoundly impacted the pilgrims they served.

We were also delighted to celebrate three of our Past Pupils, Rachel Berwick, Mairead Quinlan and Amelia Ryan, who received their five-year service medals—a testament to their unwavering commitment.

We are immensely proud of all HCK Past Pupils who continue to return to Lourdes each September with the Dublin Diocese, giving so generously of their time and talents. Through their witness, these students and alumni truly embody the Cornelian ethos of 'Actions not Words'.

Our Lourdes pilgrims have arrived safely! 🇫🇷💙 We wish Ms Moore, Zoe, Cecilia, Laoise, Eleanor and Ellie a meaningful week of faith, friendship and service as they join the Dublin Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes.
We look forward to following their journey over the coming days!

From HCK to Oxford! 🎓📍

We are delighted to share that Niamh has secured her place at the University of Oxford following her Leaving Certificate at HCK.

Niamh is heading to Exeter College, Oxford, to study Classics at one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious universities!
At HCK, Niamh served as our Chaplaincy Prefect, leading assemblies and liturgical celebrations with warmth and confidence, while also being an inspirational mentor to younger students and her peers.

This summer, Niamh also represented Ireland at the European Touch Rugby Championships, demonstrating that her talents extend far beyond the classroom.

Achieving 613 points in the Leaving Certificate is an exceptional accomplishment, but Niamh’s journey is a wonderful reminder that success is about far more than academic results alone.

Her commitment to leadership, service, sport and school life as a whole shows the value of embracing every opportunity and making a meaningful contribution within the school community.

We are hugely proud of Niamh and delighted to see her embark on such an exciting journey. We wish her every success as she begins this new chapter at 🇬🇧🎓💭

It was a pleasure to welcome our Class of 2026 back to Holy Child Killiney as they celebrated their CAO offers with teachers and friends.

The HCK Reading Room was filled with smiles, excitement and plenty of proud moments as the girls celebrated this special milestone together. ❤️💚
