🏆 **DOUBLE GLORY AT SCIATH NA SCOL!** 🏆
What a historic, unforgettable day for our school! Today, both our incredible boys' and girls' teams brought home the silverware, and we couldn't be prouder! 🔴⚪️
well-deserved medals. Inspiring the next generation!
**The Boys** put on a masterclass performance, securing a brilliant, comprehensive win from start to finish against Upper Glanmire
**The Girls** showed absolute heart, grit, and determination, battling incredibly hard right until the final whistle to secure their magnificent victory over Kilcredan NS.
History repeated itself today in the absolute best way. This marks the first time since **2018** that our boys have won a Sciath na Scol final.
Looking back at 2018, we knew we had a special group, with players who have gone on to achieve massive success—including **Ben Walsh** (Cork U20) and **Barry Walsh** (Cork U20 & Cork Senior Hurler).
To make today even more unforgettable, it was incredibly special to have **Barry Walsh** himself back with us today to present both teams with their well- deserved medals. Inspiring the next generation! 🥇
A massive, heartfelt thank you to our fantastic teachers—**Mr. Irwin, Mr. Kenny, and Ms. Crowley**—for their endless dedication, coaching, and support.
And finally, to our amazing parents, families, and supporters who turned up in their droves to cheer the teams on—thank you! Your support means the world to us.
The future of Cork GAA is very bright indeed! 🎉🏆🥳

Just over a week to go to both our boys & girls finals in Páirc Uí Caoimh on Friday 29th of May for the boys & 12pm for the girls.

We have a couple of messages from past pupils of Inch N.S. & former Sciath Na Scol medal winners Ben & Barry Walsh who have gone onto have fantastic success on and off the field with highlights being their recent success representing Cork at intercounty level in U20 & Senior hurling.

We wish the children who will compete in the finals next Friday, the 29th of May the very best of luck!

Our students completed loads of Engineering Challenges using the Engineering Design Process for our STEM Week 2026:

From Juniors to 2nd class they focused on planning and building sustainable, robust housing for the 3 little pigs to fend off the Big Bad Wolf!

3rd & 4th focused on building zip-lines capable of safely transporting fragile materials from point A to B as streamlined and as safely as possible.

5th worked on balloon rockets, thrust and improving designs so they could race each other to the finish line.

6th class worked on creating pizza box solar ovens with a focus on recyclable materials and the science behind heat transfer, reflection and insulation. They used the solar ovens to cook S’mores also which looked & tasted delicious.

STEM Week Inch NS 2026

We had a very busy week in Inch NS this week for our STEM week. Some of the many activities included guest speakers, engineering class projects, art competitions, science experiments and much more!

Many thanks to our guest speakers and volunteers which included;

John Roche (Toby & Malachy’s dad) from EDC Engineering where he spoke to the students about what led him to a career in engineering. He shared his experiences, answered questions and even set about giving the students an engineering challenge which they loved.

Jim Lane (Paddy, Elsie & Delta’s grandad) - We were delighted to have Jim come talk to the children about his life experiences and the science behind radio waves, transmission and morse code. The children loved Jim’s stories and they learned a lot.

Shane Murray; Aeronautical Engineer with SES Ltd. Shane talked about aeronautical engineering and what sparked his interest in that field of engineering. He also brought in some real life aeroplane engineer parts for the students to observe and get their hands on which they loved!

Sandra Barry - Our resident scientists who did science experiments with the children and gave an insight into her own experience as a scientist too. The highlight of the week will have to have been The Elephant Toothpaste experiment.

It was a great opportunity for the students to hear a fresh voice and hopefully spark their curiosity in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths for the future.

Go raibh míle maith agaibh!

Active School Week – What a Week!

What an incredible week we’ve had, with our school full of energy, teamwork and fun in the sunshine.

Each morning kicked off with our whole-school Wake Up, Shake Up on the AstroTurf.

A big thank you to Donna Fitness for her fun, high-energy sessions, and to Coach Christine, who brought great energy to the final day with her non-stop activities.

Coach Bryan McCarthy worked with our junior classes on fundamental movement skills through fun, active games, building confidence and coordination. He also put our 6th class pupils and teachers to the test using heart rate monitors, giving great insight into fitness and heart health. Safe to say Miss Crowley and Mr Kenny are still recovering.

Our activities included station games, rounders, capture the flag, bench ball, parachute games and obstacle courses, as well as soccer with Marion Clyne, basketball with Mike Murrihy, outdoor yoga with Seanachaí Yoga, Pilates with our own Miss Rachel, Irish dancing with Lucy Murphy, and lots more.

A big thank you to coach Brigid and Patrick for excellent bike safety sessions, and to everyone who made the effort to walk and cycle to school.

We wrapped up the week with fantastic rugby sessions from Munster Rugby coaches Willie Shubart and Lorraine McCarthy, a brilliant way to finish.

A huge thank you to all our coaches and staff for making the week such a success.

🌟 EXCITING NEWS FOR OUR PLAYGROUND! 🌟
We are absolutely thrilled with the newest additions to our school playground!
These new facilities aren't just for fun—they are designed to support our children’s physical and mental development in some amazing ways:
🏃 **NEW AGILITY TRAIL:** This trail is perfect for building confidence! It challenges balance, coordination, and core strength as children navigate the climbing and stepping structures. It’s a fantastic way to develop these essential gross motor skills.
🎨 **OUTDOOR BLACKBOARDS:** Our new blackboards take the classroom outside! These provide a wonderful outlet for collaborative drawing, handwriting practice, and artistic expression. Fresh air and creativity go hand-in-hand!
🎡 **ENCLOSED PLAY AREA:** Featuring our new nest swing, see-saw, and spring rockers. This space is all about sensory play and social interaction. It will be added to in time to help provide a safe environment for students to regulate, build friendships and take turns.
