Ár Réaltai Beaga – Our Little Stars
Beaufort GAA is honoured to share this beautiful initiative created by the O’Shea family.
In memory of their beloved daughter, Alice O’Shea, and every baby and young child from the GAA community gone too soon, the O’Shea family has established Ár Réaltai Beaga (Our Little Stars) – a lasting remembrance project for bereaved families across the GAA.
As Alice’s first birthday and the first anniversary of her birth approached, the family wanted to honour her memory in a way that also embraces every child who is deeply loved, forever remembered, and forever part of our GAA family.
Although this initiative is new, the precious names of children from more than 30 GAA clubs across 17 counties and beyond have been entrusted to Ár Réaltai Beaga, with all four provinces of Ireland now represented. It is a powerful reflection of the love, unity and support that exists throughout our GAA community.
Inspired by the kindness shown to them and by the illumination of Croke Park for the Feileacáin Wave of Light, they are incredibly grateful to GAA President Jarlath Burns and to Croke Park for giving Ár Réaltai Beaga a permanent home in Croke Park.
This will be a simple and meaningful tribute, with its greatest significance found in the names it carries—each one representing a precious child who will always be remembered.
There is no cost to take part, no fundraising, and no obligation. The O’Shea family simply hopes that every bereaved GAA family who wishes to participate will have the opportunity to see their child’s name included.
If you know a family who may find comfort in this initiative, or if you would like to share it with your local GAA club, your support would be greatly appreciated.
