☀️ Heat Warning This Week – Keeping Children Safe in the Sun ☀️

With high temperatures forecast this week, we are reminding families, children, and Early Learning and Care (ELC) and School-Age Childcare (SAC) services to take extra precautions to stay safe in the sun and heat.

🌞 For families and childcare services:
💧 Encourage children to drink water regularly throughout the day
👒 Ensure children wear wide-brimmed hats and lightweight, loose-fitting clothing
🧴 Apply sunscreen before outdoor activities and reapply as needed
🌳 Plan outdoor play in shaded areas and avoid prolonged sun exposure during the hottest part of the day (11am–3pm)
👶 Keep babies and young children out of direct sunlight wherever possible
🏃 Adapt outdoor activities if temperatures become too high

Children can be more vulnerable to the effects of heat, so it is important that we all take simple steps to help them stay safe and comfortable.
