Speech and Language Clinic

Speech and Language Clinic I provide therapy in the clinic, in client's homes, and in participating local schools. Hello and welcome to the Speech and Language Clinic.

My name is Frances O'Brien and I have a Master's Degree in Speech & Language Therapy and a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. I graduated from the University of Limerick in 2005 with a First Class Honour Degree. I worked primarily with Early Intervention Services where I was a member of a multi-disciplinary team. I have worked with children with a wide range of communication difficulties, including chi

ldren with special needs e.g. Autistic Spectrum Disorder & Down Syndrome. Throughout my career, I have undertaken additional specialised training to enhance the communication needs of children with special needs including the following:

Lamh (Irish Sign Language)
PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System)
Nuffield Language Programme
Sensory Integration

I have a special interest in promoting language development in very young children, including adopted children who are integrating into the Irish Culture. Staff training in pre-schools/schools is also available for professionals who may wish to increase their knowledge base & skills to work with children who have Special Needs. Appointments upon request.

I am very excited to have the opportunity to attend another course offered by the Michael Palin Institute. Cognitive behavioural therapy to help children with a stutter. It will be a great addition to my therapy services in this area.

If your child shows some symptoms of speech or language difficulties you should feel free to ask us a question any time on this section of our site. Questions can be completely anonymous but answers will be specific what you need. I hope to hear from you soon if you need anything. Thanks, Frances
