Last night, we gathered to celebrate two incredible educators as we marked the retirements of our wonderful Principal, Mrs Reilly, and our much-loved teacher, Mrs Darby.

Following a beautiful retirement Mass, we came together back at the school where guest speakers reflected on the remarkable impact both ladies have had throughout their years of dedicated service to Killala National School. Their commitment, kindness, and passion for education have touched the lives of countless children, families, and colleagues, leaving a legacy that will be remembered for many years to come.

From everyone at St Joseph's, we would like to sincerely thank Mrs Reilly and Mrs Darby for everything they have given to our school community. We wish them both every happiness, good health, and many wonderful adventures as they begin this exciting new chapter.

Happy retirement! 💐❤️

Everyone at St. Joseph's NS, Killala extends our deepest sympathies to Chris's family, friends and the entire Killala Playschool community on her passing.

Chris touched the lives of so many children with her kindness, care and dedication over the years. May she rest in peace.

We encourage all past pupils of Killala Playschool and their families, where possible, to join the guard of honour on Friday evening at 7:15pm outside Lynn's Funeral Home, to give Chris the heartfelt send-off she so richly deserves.

Cappagh, Ballycastle, and formerly of Briska, Bangor-Erris; peacefully at home, surrounded by her family. (Predeceased by her parents Pat and Bridgie Shevlin.) Sadly missed and much loved by her husband Michael, daughters Cliona and Maria, sisters Mary (Boland, Crossmolina), Bridie (Carolan, Briska)...

Today was a truly special and emotional day for our wonderful 6th Class pupils as we celebrated their time in our school and wished them every success and happiness as they begin the next exciting chapter of their journey.

The children also gave a beautiful surprise performance for Mrs Reilly — a heartfelt song and poem that they wrote and performed themselves, creating a moment that will be remembered for years to come.

It was made even more special as we prepare to say goodbye to two valued members of our school community — our incredible principal, Mrs Reilly, and our wonderful teacher, Mrs Darby.

Since joining our school in 1991, Mrs Reilly has made a remarkable and lasting impact through her dedication, leadership and care for generations of pupils and staff. Her contribution to our school community has been extraordinary and her legacy will continue long into the future.

Wishing our 6th Class every success ahead, and sending our sincere thanks and best wishes to Mrs Reilly and Mrs Darby for all they have given to our school.

A sincere thank you to John Barry and Jarleth Munnelly for spending the day with the pupils of Saint Joseph's and leading such an enjoyable tag rugby session.

We are so grateful for the time, energy, and enthusiasm you brought to the day. The pupils had a wonderful experience, learned new skills, and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.

Thank you 🏈

A huge thank you to Dara for bringing in his 1906 Edison Standard Phonograph and giving our 3rd to 6th class pupils a fascinating talk and live demonstration.

It was an incredible opportunity for the children to see – and hear – a piece of history in action. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm with us! 🎶📚✨
