It is with great sadness that we learnt of the sudden passing of previous club member Micky Donnellan. He joined us for a couple of years on the adult members course and also came with us on at least two of the September cruises to west cork. He was a great family man and our sympathies go out to his wife Sharon and their children Owen, James and Ciara. Mickey was an active member of nearly all of the clubs and societies in Tulla and spent a lot of time working and volunteering with the scouts which he loved. May his soul rest in peace,

The Annual Club Regatta took place last weekend with 10 boats and a mixture of weather over the 2 days. Met Eireann were unsure where the downpours would land. A few did and killed the breeze and lots of dark clouds passing very close north of us creating a stunning dark backdrop while the lake filled with sunshine and at times an ok breeze. Even a rumble of thunder.
Winds shifted all over the place which made the OOD Lura Collins assisted by Michael Collins job and the sailors preferred routes very challenging. Fair play to them both, a total of 6 Races sailed, 4 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. Plenty of tight starts and close racing with the top boats changing positions constantly.
The wind did pick up at times but the light breeze made for serious concentration and zero body movement if you were going to get anywhere.
Fantastic youth representation for the 2 days, well done to all.
Thank you Laura and Michael OOD, assisted by Tom and Gerry, Alan, Kevin, Damian, Gillian and Ingrid on rescue boats over both days.
Lelia and Corranne for organising the beautiful spread of food.
Well done to regatta winners Des and Pat. GP14, 2nd Kevin and Martin Enterprise. 3rd Peter and Ingrid GP14, (Saturday) and Peter and Maeve on (Sunday) also picking up the youth awards were Bea + Michelle , and Dean + Richard completing the youths in second and third.
Unfortunately Maeve had to leave after racing so she is missing from the awards images 👏👏🥂.
