Tips for Leaving Certificate and Junior Certificate Students;
1. Be gentle with yourself, you are doing the best you can!
2. Your physical and mental wellbeing should be your first priority: A healthy body commands a healthy mind. Eat well and take plenty of breaks, even if it’s just for a light walk in the fresh air or some downtime with your favourite music.
3. Sleep is paramount for your overall wellbeing. The research states that at least 6 hours is essential. Your brain will function at its maximum with proper rest. ALL NIGHTERS DO NOT WORK!
4. Create structure around your study routine. Your study space should be organised and free from distraction.
5. Create study goals for yourself each day….. the smallest of steps in the right direction is progress.
6. Always begin your study routine with your hardest subject as your brain will be the most focused and active.
7. Healthy snacking is essential – Sugary foods only help temporarily and lead eventually to a complete slump. Nuts, Berries, Fish and Greens are all excellent sources of energy for better Brain Power. Tea/Coffee has been proven to help, but in moderation.
8. Use past papers and always compare your answers to the solutions provided. The available marking schemes can help improve your attempt – www.examinations.ie can be a very useful website.
9. Be gentle with yourself, you are doing the best you can!
